Default Sponsors!!! Need lumpy daily driver cam

Its time to give the old daily driver a new lease on life with a freshen up with some new goodies Its an LS1, stock converter, A4 and 3.07 diff gears. Ive already got a set of longtubes, an LS6 manifold and a nice SD tune all lined up
Ive also got a 50/50 chance of picking up some 2nd hand LS6 heads for the right price, but it may not happen.

Im looking for a daily driver cam that lopes its head off!!!
Ideally, Ive got in my head that something like a 220/220 .62x"/.58x" 108LSA would be a dream for me

So, I need the baddest sounding, lumpiest muddafarker that works with a stock converter and makes some power/torque while being daily driven

Big ask? Probably......
But I have faith in the sponsors to come up with the goods

Some of the ones Ive looked at are TSP 220 cam, the TR224 and SpeedInc's baby's. I just KNOW theres one thats perfect that I havent found yet

No cam with a lot over valve overlap for lope will work too well with a stock converter and that gearset.

Yep it is a big ask
Ive got cars for racing, this one is for getting to work in traffic and picking up the groceries. So the stock converter and tall gears are the way it is unfortunately.

Surely someone offers a baby cam with small duration, big lift and a tight LSA?

If it "needs" a set of 3.46 diff gears to work and to make a recommendation easier..... I guess it has to get 3.46s then.....

I have ridden in a stock converter car that ran a 224/224 camshaft, and it SUCKED. IMO, even if you were staying with the stock camshaft, I'd still get a verter for it. I ran a TCI SSF3500 when I had my auto car, and LOVED it! I added a 225/225 cam and it was a nice little setup. With the stock 3.23 gears it would still knock off 22-23 mpg on the highway while running 11s on DRs.

I'd recommend you to get a 3k+ stall, and something in the 224-228 duration range on the camshaft. Go with the 112 lsa and with a free flowing exhaust, you'll have a little lope, although nothing wild. It will drive nice, still get pretty good mileage, and be fun to drive. There is NO way I would do a cam and not a verter.

Thanks for the comments.

I have had a 5000 converter and 4.11 diff gears in an LS1 street car before so I am not shy about them. Just not looking to go in this direction with this car.

Its really just a freshen up of a stock car with a catback. I figure if I throw a LS6 manifold, a set of longtubes, a tune and a lumpy baby cam into it, then it should transform the car rather cheaply into something that I will enjoy driving every day

Cheap thrills

If you just want to "freshen it up", do the headers, intake, 3.42's, a 3500 or so converter, and tune it. This will be a much better combo than sticking a lumpy cam in it with the stock converter, and it will be much more driveable. It just won't sound as "sick" as a big cam. Do you want it to sound good and suck to drive or be a good daily driver?

Not to hi-jack but what would be a good lumpy cam for a dd M6 w/lid, headers and 3.73's? I'm more into the 1500-4000K range so I'm looking for more under the curve ir go with something like the ms4? Not looking to take to the track.

lol the MS4 doesn't even get out of bed until 4500rpm. Under the curve = 224/224

Yeah you can get a cam like that but its not going to be the nicest mannered car with that stall converter. Anything with that much overlap will ride better with a different stall.

Juts because the duration is low does not make it automatically compatiable with a stock stall. If you went with a 224 on something like a 112-114 lsa it would be a lot better with the stock stall than a 224 on a 108.
