Not everything done to an engine or a car in general is going to gain u "MOE HORZPOWA"
You can waste your money and spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on these worthless little chunks of metal we call Lifters, Springs, Pushrods, Retainers, etc. without seeing a change to your dyno numbers or track times.
But if having the piece of mind that your valvetrain/motor is more durable, more likely to survive a bit of over-rev, and having more consistent performance isn't worth it to you, then maybe you should give second thoughts to taking your car away from the stock setup.
Not trying to be a smart-*** here, but these are things you need to consider.
I'm about to drop $2600+ on a 9 in. rear end that will give me no "performance increase" and will likely result in a bit more drivetrain lost, costing me a bit of power. Yup, a lot of money for less power... but in the context of building a stable, reliable car that can handle increased power, its something that has to be done. This is how our world works.
If you plan on getting a H/C setup in the future just keep the lifters in your room until you get a new set of heads (since they need to be removed anyways to install them).

H/C swap should include new lifters for sure.
