Yes. My buddy did it with a stock motor(just pushrods and valvesprings to prevent valve float), and an STS turbo kit. Plus fuel system and injectors/drivetrain to support the power. Made 500rwhp/49xrwtq through a built Ford AOD trans and a 12-bolt rear. That was a conservative tune too...It could have made 550 while still being safe.

Yes it will hold as long as you dont abuse the motor. look in my sig, 100% stock short block with a 150 shot.

cool ! ! ! got my hands on a used short block for a buck fifty, was thinking stroker til the wife asked me to think dollars. Its good to know that i should be able to make great power with the rotating assembly i already have. Now its time to take it apart and see what i'm really working with.

ur on your own to decide between wet vs dry, there have been way to many arguments on that subject. i would turbo it if it were me, but gl on your build im sure you will enjoy it

There are a lot of factors to longevity at that power level. Tuning is essential. the stock pistons are weak the ring lands go real easily. If your planning on living at 500 rwhp you need to plan on a forged short block sometime in the future. If your just loking for a dyno number and arent really going to drive it at 5000rpms+ then its a different story.

Are you going to use the power all the time or just on occasion and baby it the rest of the time. The stock SB was not made to live in the upper rpms for very long intervals IMO. Mine went south at 84k miles and only having been sprayed with a 100 shot twice. I drove it hard most of the time, but even still I feel it should have lasted longer..LOL

I have seen stock bottom ends make 630-640HP with blowers and H/C/I and live for a long time. Im also going on 2 years with 507RWHP with a stock bottome end + H/C/I and shiftign at 7000rpm [all CARTEK cars]

Ti all depends on who builds it, and more importantly who tunes it.

I've currently got a stock bottom end... i have a safe tune as well though... reliability was a BIG factor to me when I got my new setup. So CMS tuned it with that in mind...

i had a stock bottom 346 w/ ARP rod bolts, worked 317 heads, TR blower cam, bolt-ons........... induction was a whipple supercharger @ 7# boost and also had a 100 wet shot thru the blower, it made 660-670 to the wheels thru a 3k stall, transfer case, 2 driveshafts, and 2 axles, and that was on a mail order tune, it was running very rich........ '99 Z-71 (didnt imagine it would have ever been as quick as it was, videos are in my sig)............. i also know a guy with a LS1 GTO (H/C/I, full exhaust, spraying a 250 shot w/ progressive control....... its a stock bottom and he has taken it to the track every week for the last 2 yrs. and still hasnt hurt the motor, runs 6.60s on the 1/8)

Well im wondering what it is going in...you ask 500hp but didnt mention rear wheel hp. 500 hp on the motor is easy, small head and cam and bolt ons will get you there no problem. If you are talking rwhp the h/c/boltons+ 100 shot of nitrous should put you just over 500 rwhp.

I am about to start my h/c/i swap in my WS6 and am hoping for around 450rwhp. I am going to find myself a stok block and crank and then throw in some forged pistons and rods and put all of my stuff on that block later and then I will feel better about the nitrous shot and will probably run a 200hp shot.

I am at 470/483 at the wheels through an automatic. We stopped tuning due to what we felt to be the safe "RELIABLE" limits of my motor. The plans are now in the works for a new motor so I can use all my setup has to offer.

600-650rwhp is usually the point at where you need to start worrying a tad..

it could go at 400rwhp though also..

but i would keep it at 600rwhp or less if you want to be..... "safe"..
