Default NEEDED!!! ACTUAL measurements of MLS gaskets

I'm getting all my stuff from the machine shop, and have 2 sets of the MLS gaskets.

I'm checking quench Saturday, and wanting to get some ACTUAL measurements of the MLS gaskets that have been compressed.

I've seen so many numbers thrown around, but none actually verified, just passed down numbers.

If I can't get any feedback and I have to, I'll put a set on, compress them, take heads back off, measure them, and go from there.

Thanks

Moss

Default 5.7 MLS gaskets

I need them off the 5.7 MLS gaskets, not the 6.0!

Thanks

Per the GM drawing, the 6.0 gasket is 0.052. The 5.7 is about the same plus or minus a few thousandths.

How soon do you need them? I am pulling and tearing into my engine this weekend. It has .040 cometics and I'll measure the actual compressed thickness for you. The engine has been together for over a year.

GM MLS gaskets for LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6 and L92 are all 1.3mm or .0523 "operating thickness" according to all of the actual blueprints.

LS3, L76, L92 - 12610046 Bore= 104mm, 4.094
LS2, LQ9, LQ4 -12589227 Bore= 102.6mm, 4.039
LS1, LS6, LS4 - 12589226 Bore= 100mm, 3.937

I put a caliper on mine after torquing the heads down - got .053". I'd say your in the ballpark with that number +/- .001.

Default .053

Yall were dead on the money!

I took a new set of MLS gaskets (5.7 liter not 6.0), put one on my block, torqued down a head on it, pulled the head right back off, put the mic on it,

.053!

Thank baby jeebus for this thread, some of the exact info I have been looking for.

Now does anyone know the exact amount that the piston is out of the hole on stock LS1?

Default diamond pistons

I don't know the stock set-up, but my new set up is:

Stock length scat h-beam rods
Diamond forged pistons, -2 cc relief 3.905 diameter
Stock stroke crank
Stock block deck height

My piston height was a measured .004" out the top of the hole!

Thank you sir, the headgasket thickness and piston out of bore numbers were the things I needed to figure up some compression numbers.
