Catch can completely dry????
I installed a catch can a few days ago because i would constantly ahve to add oil and i knew i was burning it. I drove around for a few days and just pulled the lid off to see if there was any oil in there and it was completely dry!?!?!? Even the filter was dry.
I havent got on it hard in the past few days, but i still expected it to have a few drops.
I guess my question is: Does oil vapor always flow through the pcv system or only at certain times? What are the conditions that it would pass through the can? Any info or advice is appreciated
Thanks

The catch can scavenges oil that would normally be blown back into the intake from your pcv valve.
If you are really burning oil it's a ring issue or a valve seal issue not a pcv issue. Do you see oil smoke when you start your car or when you get on it?
Most Ls1s do pass oil through the pcv so I would expect to see some but perhaps your pcv valve is blocked. Have you checked it to see if it is clogged?

no i havent checked the pcv valve to see if it was clogged. Where is the actual valve located?
Everyone tells me they see oil smoke when i get on it, and i constantly have to add oil.
All of the valve seals are brand new and we made sure they were seated so i don't think its them

See the bulge on your left just under the fuel rail. The valve is inside that cacoon. There's a heavy wire attached that heat sinks to the engine. Thanks to who ever owns and pictured that engine.

The only time you need a thread "sealer" is if the intake runners are ported to the extent that the rocker bolt boss is exposed. When this happens the rocker bolt will protrude slightly into the runner and oil can get in the runner and contaminate the charge going into the cylinder.
