Default lq9 rpm question for big cam.......

i have a lq9 from a 05 escalade.

flat top pistons and hp connecting rods so im sure its the lq9

ok, i am putting this in a s-10. i just bought a cam from a memeber on here, the specs are 242/242 610 610 and 110 lobe sep.

i am installing patriot gold dual springs also. along with a stock ls1 intake and tb (free parts)

what would be safe rpm to rev to when i need it, this thing is gonna fly, and prob wont rev all the way everytime. but if i need to go all out. what is safe for a stock lq9 bottom?

i want to do arp rod bolts but dont wanna tear it down and have rods redone.

7200.

but that ls1 intake won't like much of anything over 6500 probably.

6500-6800, should last a while. Be sure to check piston to valve clearance with flat-tops and a 110 lsa.

I thought an LS1 IM fell off at about 6000 and an LS6 at about 6300

depends on the cam. ls6 intakes will make power until 7k, but it is totally cam dependent.

ls1 intake however i'm guessing with suck ***** at anything above 6500.

typically the ls6 intakes will PEAK about 6300...what happens after that is on the cam.

will that 242/242 seem like a smaller cam in that 6.0?

its goin in a lightened 97 s-10 with 4.10 gears. with race 700r4 and 2500 stall with balloon plate.

i figure the smaller stall will help with traction on the street. then some nitrous will help with more stall on the track.

so 6800 should be a good max point. set limiter to 7 and never hit it?

ls6 intake coming later, i got a complete assembled ls1 intake rails injectors tb for 60 shipped. so i jumped on it.

30lb injectors should be enough right?

I'd say the cam is just about right for the motor. But big cubes, high duration and high lift will be chocked by the LS1 intake, as you well know by now. I would go bigger on the injectors.
