yes I changed the pushrods..... And I was thinking about 6300 for max power also. I ordered a wideband o2 last night. and a week from this saturday is test/tune at the local track. So I think i'm gona run her.

My limiter is set to 6500, but due to my 112 LSA, it peaks at 5800. I figure if I ever do heads I'll get a small boost in peak HP to just a bit above 6000 but nothing drastic. I rarely see 6500 unless I feel like it.

+1 with what everyone says, once you get it tuned and running right, you will notice the difference.

well that's funny because i just installed my cam it's a 221/224 on a 112 and i felt a big difference from that and the underdrive pulley and that's without getting a tune my question is could it be bad to run my car ***** to the wall without a tune? reason being is races this friday and i wanted to put on my pacesetters before i got a tune.

well i had a full hptuners done on my car when i recently put my stall converter on and it was running great. i just put a tr224 cam in and was expecting all kinds of chaos. but none. it drives great except it cant idle well bc of the idle speed being set too low. i went WOT and it feels great. i dunno if i would take it to the track but then again im fairly cautious.

I broke it in as instructed, sounds amazing. Just what I was looking for. You can barely tell it's in there, by the exhaust note. But still idles pretty smooth.

I know with the 116 LSA I wanted , it'd move the powrband up. But tonight was the first time I hammered on her and honestly It wasn't what I thought it would have been. Before she pulled hard all the way. It feels like a picked up a few ponies. Not what I thought. Have yet to up the rev limiter, she stopped at 6k or so.

And yes I did get the timing marks 100% dead on. I checked about 5 times after installing the chain. Turned the motor over by hand a few times. It drives great, can't tell the cams in there. Just not to impressed by the gain I'm feeling.

We have Hptuners, and I still have to buy a wideband to tune it with. But even without a tune shoudln't it feel like more of a gain? I think my UD pully I put on a few months ago felt better.
What do you expect if not tuned properly?
You know the answer, professionaly tune it, then dyno fine tune and then make a judgement.

This is like arguing why is the chicken not black while the egg hasn't been fertilized yet.

don't get me wrong i'm trying to find out if it'll mess up my car without a tune before i go to the track if it's highly not recommended then i'm going to have to skip on the track this time.
i'm fairly cautious also but if race gas will keep the main problem down (running too lean) then i'll go have fun and have it tuned... anybody have any comments...
how long did some of you run your car with a cam before you had it tuned?

I have been daily driving mine for a full year on 87 octane witrhout a single issue & it's untuned. Had several races too & still no issue. Only a little unspent fuel blowing out from running rich.

I also dislike super choppy idles....after reading this thread, im just wondering whats so bad about a higher LSA, just that it moves the power band up, but it does get the car to idle nice and smooth, close to stock, correct?

**What power numbers can you see with a TR224 114LSA with a good set of heads. Sorry i dont mean to hijack the thread.

A couple of weeks ago I bought the TR224/224 114LSA and won't install until I get the heads too.

my tr224 114 idles pretty smooth. if the idle speed was picked up it would really smooth out. i bet to an untrained ear it would pass for stock.
