This thread got me to reexamine some GC I bought a few months ago.
The last time I saw gold 0W-30, it was made in the USA. That was a year ago or so.

Well, on the back of my GC bottles it says "As the technology leader, Castrol continually improves performance through product innovation. This may result in color/ordor variations from time to time". So perhaps the Gold GC is better than the Green . . . Dunno if this GC is gold or green. Too lazy to break the seal.

Below is a crappy pic. The above text is in the red box.

If you look at the side of the bottle you can tell. Itll say M007 or something like that. If it says M003 or lower its the green.

Yeah.
I'm just saying Castrol is claiming that color changes are supposed to reflect an improvement.

I used GC 0W30 for a few years and found I had a lot of engine noise ( valve trane and piston slap )upon start up after it had sat for only 1 hr or so.
I started using C 10W30 and the engine noises have disappeared.
Don't think I'll go back.

anyone ever try amsoil? they make several different oils for hot climates. it is a little more expensive but there is a reason why alot of the off road racing guys use it. i'm sure it would be worth checking into. they also have better oil filters too. only problem is that it is sometimes hard to find a dealer.(depending on where you live)

I like how the oil pressure holds up in hot temps with it. It rarely drops below 40 at idle. Other oils would go to low 30's on hot days. And this is oil with some of the best cold pumpability on the market. Great stuff.

Wallmart sells it for around $24 for the 5 quart jug.

The green oil is the best GC out there . It has the original formula with all the good ingredients . The new gold oil has been watered down due to cost constraints . Just like everything else ,lesser product for the same price . You only have to look at Mobil 1. Years ago it was one of the few real fully synthetic oils available , now , just a shadow of its former formula . Only Amsoil & Red Line -GC are true fully synthetic . I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong .

Lol. Where are you getting this from? General consensus over on BITOG is the gold is no better/no worse than green.
