I have the same thing, I will try to torque the rockers to 25ft/lbs.

Rotate the engine many times then re-check..

It's 22 pounds. You DON'T want to break a bolt in the rocker stand.

Does it go away after warm up? Hydraulic lifters? Are you sure it is not a exhaust manifold leaking?

Well, I torqued them before to 22 pounds, when I tried to torque them for more, the bolt didn't go more, my torque wrench just clicked immediatly.

guess loctite made them tight!

Did you use a pushrod checker..? a milled head or different base circle cam will change the length.

stock length is 7.400"

we have used 7.425" pushrods in cam swaps.

only way to tell is by using a length checker.

Im having a similar problem...I used a length checker but its telling me that I should have a 7.405" pushrod for .080" of lifter preload. SO I should have .075" of preload which is ok. It is still very loud and only after warm up. I am going to check the pushrod cups on my yella terras to be sure one didnt fall out and maybe measure my pushrods with a digital caliper and after that I may buy the 7.425 pushrods just to see if it make a difference.

At .075 you are at the low end and many builders recommend .080 to .100 (.125 is the max). So if you have a noisy valvetrain, it seems to me that 7.425 would be a good choice.

Ive done many head/cam swaps and the valvetrain noise is always more prominent.

How's your valve wipe pattern look? If not centered & your tick is due to short push rods, then try 7.425" push rods.

FYI, I have adjustable rockers & have experimented with setting pre-load from 0.080" all the way to.125" on LS7 lifters, without causing any problem w/ the lifters. So don't be weary of using a longer push rod that results in a deeper pre-load, on your non-adjustable set up.

You can't adjust stock rockers. Only way to change wipe pattern/lifter pre-load is w/ different length push rods. This is why many people in this thread have suggested longer pushrods.

Here is the procedure, but you are fishing in the wrong pond. First, did you check the wipe pattern to ensure you have the correct rocker geometry. Once you have the correct geometry, determine pushrod length by measuring to obtain correct preload on the lifter. Everything else is a shortcut. You can tighten the rockers until the bolt strips, if they are tight it won't make any difference. All you are doing by tightening more is loading the aluminum threads more.
