Some of these "so called" experts are giving you their opinion, which does not reflect reality in all cases. Take me for instance.. I am one of the guy's that is running a decent sized cam (G5X3) 236/242 @ 610 lift"... My motor was built in Feb 07 and i have since put close to 40K on the springs/valvetrain... That's reality!
If my motor is taking a beating then i certainly can't tell.. It still runs VERY strong for what it is. Currently running stock "non-ported" 243's... have a new set of LS2's i am sending to Trick Flow to add after the first of the year.
Oh, i am also running a 3600 stall...
Am i on borrowed time? Maybe.. Every car is different..
just my .02 FWIW..

Here she is on the dyno, tuning it. Put down 391rwhp flat from 5900-6400rpm. 380lb-ft @ 4800rpm. Through a 4500rpm converter unlocked and 3:23's. Tracy said every car puts out low numbers on his dyno for whatever that's worth. I'm after et's not dyno numbers. The cheap camera vid does no justice to what this thing sounds like. I'll get to the track soon after the holidays if not before and post what really counts.

Finally got to run it. 81 degrees, 10-12mph headwind at Bradenton Motorsports Park. Decent track prep but I was spinning the 255/50 16 ET Street Radials. Regular snowflakes all around, stock front suspension sans swaybar. More to be gained from lowering that slow 60ft time and better air without wind. I'm pretty happy but will tweak more out of it. 3500 race weight I had 3/4 tank of gas not knowing how much I would burn through. (60 mile drive to the track)
Stare at that .000 a while......yeah
