Default 853 Heads Info Needed

I have a 2000 formula ws6 and I looked and my car has 853 heads on it. I thought that it was supposed to have 241's on it? Don't know thats why i'm asking. Are those heads any good? Info needed please.

Use the search button bro. You could spend hours reading about your posted topic. Most people will say they prefer the 241's.

01-02 had the 241s. 98-00 as far as I know all had 853s.

99-01' came with the 12559853, they didn't start putting the the 241 in until later in 01' according to my High Performance Chevy book. My 2000 SS originall had the 853's until GM replaced my motor for piston slap...that engine came with 241's.

Depends on your build date.... that is on the sticker inside of your driver door. Early '00 cars had 853's and late ones had 241's

I had a set of 853s ported with a 3 angle valve job and a TR 224 cam(full bolt ons) that put down 415rwhp so I'd say they are decent.

The 241's have a very slight advantage in flow over the 853s (talking 5 or less hp), but once they are ported that advantage is gone . If you are planning CNC heads they are just as good as 241s to start with. If you just are looking for a good OEM upgrade look to the 243s, they came on all ls2 also.
