853 Heads Info Needed
853 Heads Info Needed I have a 2000 formula ws6 and I looked and my car has 853 heads on it. I thought that it was supposed to have 241's on it? Don't know thats why i'm asking. Are those heads any good? Info needed please.
99-01' came with the 12559853, they didn't start putting the the 241 in until later in 01' according to my High Performance Chevy book. My 2000 SS originall had the 853's until GM replaced my motor for piston slap...that engine came with 241's.

The 241's have a very slight advantage in flow over the 853s (talking 5 or less hp), but once they are ported that advantage is gone . If you are planning CNC heads they are just as good as 241s to start with. If you just are looking for a good OEM upgrade look to the 243s, they came on all ls2 also.
