Default Oil leak from freeze plug in backk of crank

So I tore into the rear of my car ('98 T/A 5.7 LS1) to replace the clutch disc and rear main seal. When I got the rear main seal off, a friend noticed oil leaking out of the freeze plug in the rear of the crank that's behind some bearings. I've never seen a plug there before so I've never seen how to replace them. I'm going to run up to the dealership and grab the plug but I just need to know how to replace it with out hurting anything else or having to pull the motor, or would putting High Temp RTV work instead of replacement. Any help you could give would be great!!! Thanks!!!

Brett

Default

if it's not too bad, i would clean the area with carb cleaner and smear permatex in it. other than that, just pull it out and reinstall with a socket that fits inside the freeze plug.
