i wouldnt to too worried about your 10 bolt with an A4. as long as you stay away from slicks. i would imagine tire spin and auto tranny soak up alot of the abuse. id say go with the 224 cam, 3.73s, and an auburn pro posi :-P

my first batch of mods netted me a full second off my 1/4 mile times and 6 mph....
mods were 373s
long tubes
custom ory
cutout
holley intake
ported tb
and a lid
mail order efi live tune from wait4me...

dont do a cam without full exhaust...hell id about bet a ported tb and a pulley would net you as much as either those 2 cams.....
If your dead set on a cam though do the ls6 cam and springs you can usually get both under 200 bucks

Cam is in! TSP 224R was the weapon of choice. So last night it got it's first trial, as I stated earlier in the thread i have a couple of friends that have Fbodies and we mess around a lot. So I raced one of them last night, he used to beat me by around 2 in the 1/4. Both of our cars are the same except he has full true dual exhaust and 3.23 gears factory. I have stock manifolds and gutted cats, rest is factory. Our 1/4 times are listed in my sig, that's him vs me, he ran the 109 MPH, i ran 108. We had to race from a 30 roll as he can't grab traction from a dig. 30-105 was around 1 1/2 lengths. You can tell his gears get him into his powerband faster because till mine gets past 3k we hang dead even, so basically till about 40-45 mph. Then it starts to pull off and keeps pulling. We ran till 145 and it keeps goin.

Sooooo....

I'm EXTREMELY pleased with doing a cam. Now, I know I will gain a decent amount from longtubes and full exhaust. I'm expecting 110+ MPH in the 1/4. I won't know till Friday tho. As far as low end, I went with the 112LSA cam, and it didn't really take away any power. Texas speed said it wouldn't. It's stock power level till 3k then it splits. And, having the 2.73's is priceless as street racing on 245's I can dead hook.

And the times are in.........

Corrected D/A was around 2k ft.

R/T .138
60' 2.13
330 5.76
1/8 8.66
MPH 85.28
1000 11.11
1/4 13.155
MPH 110.33

Looks like the 1/4 times are pretty much the same, with a HUGE gain on the back end. The 2.73's and no stall are really killing it, but that's good for on the street, as it still dead hooks with the 245's both at the strip and on the street, which is my whole intention.

I'll probably invest in a set of longtubes and Y next, the manifolds probably aren't helping any........

It's definitely time to stall/gear that wagon. If you go the radial route, opt for Mickeys. Mine wouldn't hook worth a crap tonight. If you go the stall route, I'd recommend a 3400-3600.. my 4000 seems a little bit loose at times around town. I can usually keep up with traffic between 2000-2500 rpm, and it takes about 3k to really get it moving. I'm still getting 13-14mpg, which isn't bad I don't think considering I'm still going through the "new car" stage.. having fun with it myself and giving others rides.

Just going from 2.73 to 3.42 + a mailorder tune netted me .6 sec on my old black LT1. It wasn't a huge change in gas mileage, but it made a significant difference in the track times.
