Default Need Help - Building Bracket Car

I recently purchased an 01 Z28 with the intent of building a bracket car. The seller represented the car had the modifications listed below, but when we put it on the dyno, the car made max power of 330 and torque of 287. Based on the modifications that were represented by the seller, I thought the car would dyno at least 400rwhp. We have confirmed some of the modifications (which have "confirmed" listed). The car has 19,900 miles and will be a dedicated bracket racer with cage and weight reduction modifications. Please post your thoughts as to where we should start.

Thanks,

CoopZ06

I would imagine that the gears and stall would eat up some of the power, but not that much lol. And all that with with an ls1 intake??

Well if you want a bracket car then you could just use what you have. You have to decide what speed you want to go in the bracket racing. Once you know that then we can have a better idea of where to send you. Are you against nitrous?

Thanks for the posts, we are wanting to build something in the 10.5 - 10.9 range on a N/A engine without N2O. Based on the modifications listed, is something wrong with the engine or is this what you would expect. Please post all suggestions.

I'm going to have to say that the heads cam combo isn't what it is said to be. Your going to need some better heads and a nice size cam. Your going to also have to get rid of the junk ls1 intake.

Keep an eye on the thread in the internal section. TSP is doing quite a few tests with different heads/cam setups.

I've won just as much in a stock v6 Camaro that ran 9.90's in the 1/8 vs my GTO that ran 7.30's.

Getting the car to be consistant on any track surface is the key and keep a log book. You should be able to get it in the 10.9's pretty easy with cam and heads with some weight reduction

Have you made a pass in the car yet ?? post up a slip and the DA
