PRC stg 2.5 heads VS. P&P 241
Hey all anyone have any numbers or ideas about the power and flow differences between the 5.3's in my sig vs. a fully ported/polished set of 241 heads? Im curious about this as they are both stock castings. Thanks all

Most generally aknowledge a little better torque down low with the 5.3's and a little more up top with the 241's. IMHO it comes down to the port/valve job.
EDIT: Oops. I read it quickly and thought he said 243's. I dunno then....

We've dyno tested the PRC 5.3l head against several difference good quality cylinder heads. That being said I haven't tested any 241 ported heads, most people ebay the 241 castings.

A guy on here did them stock size valves and 215cc intake runners. And I have a shop in NY looking at them and spec'n a cam for me. He should have the heads tomorrow so I'll know the Flow #'s soon.

Heads done by Creative Flow Management. 241 cast with stock valves:
lift in ex
.100 77 65
.200 145 116
.300 199 159
.400 243 190
.500 275 210
.600 285 216
This also included a valve job. The intake had only the bowl and opening worked, the runner was left alone to help velocity. I run a cam close to yours (Vinci XXX 222/228) as well. Numbers in sig.

I would say it was more than just a little work done. The exhaust was fully ported, combustion chamber done, valves unshrouded and a valve job. These were hand ported. For comparison the same dyno had a stock C6 Z06 on it. I edged it out by roughly 5-10 rwhp/tq. Who does the port work and tuning plays as big a role as how well a set is suppose to flow IMO. I say suppose to flow because advertised numbers are just that in some cases, advertising.

Im considering getting my 241's p&p and milled then a 230+ duration cam.
my combo works pretty well, ill probably have ptv clearance issues if i go with a larger cam.
