Default Emissions Friendly Cam: TS 224R vs TS 228R

I know the TS 224R (.581/.581 114 LS) is capable of passing emissions. I'm wondering if going for TS 228R (.588/.588 114 LS) will pass or fail emissions. I'm also getting PRC 5.3 stage 2.5 heads with either cam. So which of the two should I get to pass Canadian emissions and get excellent driveability out of it, cause my car is a daily driver.

I am not sure about Canadian emissions, but the 228 on a 114 can pass California emissions with a great tune and cats. It is all in the overlap, you want zero or less overlap.

I think California emissions and Ontario Drive Clean performs similar tests. Here my emissions inspection report that I had done this summer listed below.

At 40 km/h
---------------
HydroCarbons parts per million - 18 (max allowable 58)
CO % - 0.01 (0.32 allowable)
NO ppm - 77 (435 allowable)

At Curb Idle
---------------
HC ppm - 33 (max allowable 150)
CO % - 0.02 (0.7 allowable)

Interesting, we do not do an idle test. We do a 40km/h (25 mph) and 25km/h (15 mph) test. I am unsure about the limits though.

0 or negative overlap is the key!

TS 224R cam has -4 overlap while the TS 228R has 0 overlap. Should I pick the 228R, or is that alittle too close for comfort and should stick with the 224R?

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/982895-ls1-camshaft-engine-dyno-comparision.html

Checkout the cam dyno thead, we have the TSP 224 dyno tested next to the TSP 228 camshaft!!

70-75hp gains from a small camshaft swap!!!
