Talking 241 Heads!!!!!

Ok, i just found out yesterday My car has 241 Heads, all my buddy's have 853s i think. Is there a difference in performance? My car is stock i always thought it felt pretty strong. My car is a 2000 WS6, M6. My car is a March car, my buddy's is a feb. Why would GM change the heads? Thanks

241 is a much better head than the 853.

I searched a little bit before and didnt find anything, now i searched found a few things, but it seems they arent that much better, and they are stock for my year for the later 00's i have read. I just wasnt sure if they are really that much better, like if it would make a difference in performance stock to stock. you know.. thanks any info is appreciated!

Actually they are that much better. The 853 were horrible in comparision to the heads that followed. I have a friend who out-pulled my previous combo with untouched 241's vs my ported 5.3's from a major sponsor. He had a better exhaust setup but none the less the heads made the power.

Its so hard to find facts! I was in a buddy's of mine stock SLP M6 SS, and my car is a 00 WS6 with magnaflow catback and a Air lid, and i thought mine felt faster, but if his is a newer car he should have my heads any ways i was just wondering if these heads make more power stock 241's vs. stock other Heads. My buddy other buddys have 853's. My car is a month new and i have 241's! I read its not worth putting the money into them because you can buy LS6 Patriot heads for cheap!

Like said before someone must have swapped the 853's and replaced them with
241's. I hate went some people say this..unless you plan on going FI or tons
of N2O, there nothing wrong with getting your 241's ported. I had my 241's ported to stage 1 level which i reused my stock valves and used a small Comp 216/220 114lsa cam FLP headers, Borla, and Vig3600 and my full weight '02
WS6 ran 11.7's n/a. with a 125 wet shot i went 10.93 @ 127 mph. so ported 241 work just fine. Jut my 0.02
Oh forgot to add, you have to watch then they say LS6 heads, sometimes
they are LS6 style heads...theres the kicker the word styles they could be
LQ9 6.0 liter truck heads that are ported but they aren't true LS6 heads, now
if they are 243 castings then they are OK since they are true LS6 heads.

very good pricing.

Really I got mine for $500-600 stock non-ported 243s from them 2 years ago complete minus springs. Those must be ported stage ? heads. Now that's a good deal.

Hmmm, the only thing i can think is that you have a car that was that last group
that was built for 2000. Cause every 2001 and 2002 got 241's. BTW what intake does
your car have?

I searched a bit and didnt find the answers i liked so i made this post, but when i searched it said the later year 00's came with 241's, and mine is a march00 car, my buddy is a feb and his is 853's.

$1200 for ported 243's are very low cost since they are fully CNC'd and ready
to install. Thats a hard price to beat..AFR 205 that have similar flow numbers cost over
$2200. Now the only thing about the Patriots are the intake runners are 227cc.
Thats getting alittle large, meaning your bottom end torque would be a little softer, but
when you hit about 3000 rpm and up....hold on ..lol.

Well then it looks like you got luck and got the 2001-2002 heads...which i think
you should have the LS6 intake that came with '01 was well. Do you have an
EGR on your car?

Well let me ask you this...when you look an the top of your intake, just behind the throttlebody is there a metal tube coming out of the top of your intake?

Well i know when the '01 and '02 got the 241 heads they got the LS6 and the 6.0 truck
cam that burned cleaned enough that the EGR was deleted on the '01's and '02's.
But from every 2000 car i saw did have the EGR that connected to the top of the intake.
But most likely only '01 and '02 cars got the LS6 intake and the smaller cam.
