with the EFI vic jr do you have to have an elbow? Id like to do something like place a TB right on top, then a maf on top of that, with an aircleaner to tp it off.
So has anyone seen a setup like that?

I have seen a f body with a setup like that, but he had to hack up the hood and under the windsheild. Even then, he could only fit a teeny tiny air cleaner.

BUT, the newest trend in NA LSx engines is the tunnel ram style manifold with 4500 flange EFI throttle bodies. No more of that goofy *** looking tapered manifolds.

Thats a good deal for the elbow, I wouldnt mind the link just to look at it, but still the total price and some modifying would be too much for me, I only paid 200 for my LS6 so in my case the price comparison is still way more

Zmonster may be interested though, sounds like he wants that style intake.

Oh yes, zmonster really wants that intake style. I just need the money to do it...
If I do it though I will find a way to attatch the TB right on top of the manifold, then a maf ontop of that, with a big, beautiful air cleaner....

I would just think you would have a hard time fitting it in, even with the 4" cowl, the maf and TB would fit I imagine but the air cleaner would be difficult, I was just looking today at air cleaner drop plates for a 59 el camino with a 455 stroker, and the only drop plates I found were for 14" diameter filters and the plate had a 5.125" opening, and you could get up to 1.25" drop and I was looking at 3" height filters for that setup, the el camino only has about 2" of clearence between the carb and hood. So a 1.25" drop with a 3" filter puts it at 1.75" total, but then you add the top hat and that adds another good .75" or so to the total height and thats too high, I need to find a flat 14" diameter filter lid.

But if you do do it post some pics!

That would be somewhere around like 8" in crap on top of the intake, it may look kinda funny?

/\ see thats what Im thinking, that it would be soooo tall with tb and maf that it would be impracticall.
I dont know...but tb on manifold would still fit under the widshield wiper cowl, so figure a 90mm piece of tubing to connect the tb to maf and button those right next to eachother and it might look alright...
Guess we wont know till I do it,
And I wont do it till I get a job...
Dont hold your breath folks!

So if an ls2 is a 6.0 with ls6 heads, why doesnt an ls2 intake bolt to a ls1? Cause im working on the ls1 TB on a ls2 intake issue.

The fact that the LS2 used a different TB steered me away.

if you dont plan on getting decent heads and aggresive camshaft then no. If you like your stock or near stock power levels then the LS1 intake manifold is just fine. If you plan on getting an aggressive cam in your car you will find the stock manifold is restrictive past 6000 rpms. It is one of the better investments you can make and im sure many will agree.

To do what you are talking about you will have to do significant surgery to the cowl of your car...a friend of mine went that rout and it was on a strip only car with an accufab TB (4 barrel 4500 type) and no air cleaner. If you take a look at it and do some measuring you will see what I am talking about..that is probabloy the least funny looking rout to go (when compared to an intake/elbow/TB) and will be old school looking ( carb & intake) but your going to have to do some serious cutting to make it work...

Z monster you could always strap the throttle body to the intake, get a SD tune and just use an air horn, or mount air cleaner to TB, the SD tune would knock out the extra space taken up by the MAF.
