the ls6 blocks are 5.7. If you want to run boost, get an iron block out of a truck(lq4 or lq9). they can handle more boost.

An aluminum LS2 block with a 4.00" stroke crank will net you 402ci at the standard bore. If you have the cylinders honed .005" with a torque plate you'll have a 403ci engine.

When people talk about a 408 it is usually the LQ9 iron block bored .030" with a 4.00" stroke crank.

(Either one of these two blocks will handle 800rwhp if assembled correctly with the right parts. It all depends if if you want the iron block for a little more strength, or the LS2 block to save some weight.)

An LS1 or LS6 block with the same 4.00" stroke crank will get you somewhere around 382 or 383ci.

LS1=5.7L 3.898" bore (aluminum)
LS6= 5.7L 3.898" bore (aluminum)
LS2=6.0L 4.000" bore (aluminum)
LQ9=6.0L 4.000" bore (iron)

can i run 15psi safely on a ls2 block if i forge it. i want 800rwhp on a dd but dont know squat about the positives and negatives of iron truck blocks. i really wanted 2 have a ls2 block because of how great people say they are 4 high hp.

I had Weber Racing build me a LS2 403 short block a couple of months ago. I'm going to run a Vortech T-Trim on it, shooting for ~700rwhp.

I'd run an Ironblock, the Wiring it practically the same, all you have to do is drill and Tap the Flange on the drivers side of the Block for the Alternator Bracket.

Ironblock is cheaper than Aluminum and more durable. Internals cost the same.
