Default active fuel management

just curious has anyone tried or even thought of using a IV motor wiring harness and valve soleniods on an f-body and maybe running a switch for 4 cyl mode??
cus i think that AFM with a t56 and decent rear gears would make for an awesome gas saving car.
any thoughts on how to make it work?

I thought about this too! AFM doesn't seem all that effective though on the new camaro, given that the manual (non-AFM) version is rated at 16/24mpg and auto (w/ AFM) is rated at 15/23.... (i think those fuel economy figures are accurate). I think it could be optimized though for some pretty significant gains. I'm interested to see if anyone has tried this on a manual.

There is probably a reason only autos get AFM and manuals do not. All though I have no clue as to why, anyone??

because most customers want a seamless "shift" into 4cyl mode, they unlock the conv. for a sec switch to 4 cyl mode then lock it again
with a standard it would be very rough unless the computer controlled the clutch, but i dont care about rough shifts

you would have to use an ls4 manifold to make it work along with the valley cover the manifolds are very restrictive because of a u bend right behind the throttle body for an oil line to the valley cover and the lifters i get about 18/30 when it comes to mileage

What's the rear gear on the A6 Camaro? 2.56? 2.73? It is probably not as big a difference as just looking the OD would suggest.
