Default motor mounts and swapquestions

Hey so my dads friend has an ls2 engine, auto tranny, and a harness for it that he got off of a 2006 chevy silverado ss truck. it could be an lq9... not sure, anyway. The questions that i have are about the motor mounts and headers and things. What kind of headers and motor mounts can i use with a LS2/L98 with my 99 ss?Is there any kind of big changes i have to make? like, moving my clutch hydraluics, brake booster, abs mod, radiator, or anything else besides of course, the motor and engine harness, which will be supplied. How much of a direct replacement is it for an LS1 equipped vehicle? Thanks

It should bolt right in with no problems.

what about my accessories? What will i have to buy new and what can i keep? Brackets, water pump, hoses, etc. Also, how can i tell the difference between the LQ9 and the LS2 motors just by looking at them? Does the LQ9 have the same kind of intake manifold as my car? coil packs? etc?

The reluctor-wheel tooth count is different from 99 to 06, so u would need to remove the crank to change that OR use the new convertor device LPE now has to do just that and it is plug-n-play. The cam position sensor has been re-located from reading the back of the cam and mounted to the back of the block, to being read off the cam sprocket and mounted on the timing cover, and again, the signal differs as the ls1 is 2x. The LPE device will be easiest, but I generally don't trust stuff like that and would take the harder, proven route of changing the crank reluctor wheel...........my opinion only here

If it out of an 06 SS truck it's a bolt in swap. It's an LQ9 and it will have a 24x reluctor wheel and 4x cam sensor the same as the LS1. Use intake and accessories off the F-body. Basically all you need is the longblock.

You don't know the difference between an LS2 and an LQ9? Aluminum to Iron man... And reluctor wheel swaps are no piece of cake. You need a special tool to align the teeth as well as the depth on the crank for it to read right. Goodson sells the only tool I know of RRJ-350

well i know that they are different in the alum/iron respect. i was just seeing if there was any way to tell right away just by looking at the motor itself. im pretty sure that no truck came with an LS2 in it, so im thinkin its pretty safe to say that its an LQ9.

ITS AN LQ9!!! If its iron block. No trucks had the LS2 the TBSS had them.

And will be 24x wheel! Should have a black crank sensor this =24x. The 58x are gray!

Why dont you post some pics of the motor and get the VIN of the truck it came from. Get some pics of the sides of the block, not just the top, front and back.

A picture is worth a 1000 words remember.
