06 GTO Cam recommendations
Boosted 550rwhp + good idle = ATI pro charger + blower cam (and upgraded valve-train) + headers. (still expensive).
If you have around 5 to 6K to spend just on parts then go with the following.
Trickflow 550 LS2 kit - cnc 225 heads, Harland Sharp rockers, Trickflow 238/242 cam, head & exhaust gaskets, along with head bolts (and crank bolt).
1 3/4" or 1 7/8" Long tube headers
Ported and polished Fast 92 (if possible port matched to the heads).
Larger injectors (39lb to 45lb ev6 units)
Vararam CAI
new clutch
Retune
Note: this do not include installation...
That should get you somewhere around 465 SAE adjusted rwhp on a Dynojet dyno (plus or minus 20hp for altitude and fuel available).
On average the M6 GTO's have around a 15 to 18% parasitic loss from the drive train.
Simply put: a/b=x/100
a=rwhp b=bhp x=whats left after parasitic loss.
Examples:
550rwhp to unknown crank hp (x) with 15% parasitic loss from the drive train.
100-15=85 (85% is the amount left after parasitic loss)
Hard Math: 550/x = 85/100 (cross multiply top left to bottom right and top right to bottom left) <--> 85x=55000 <--> 85x/85=55000/85 (x=55000/85) <--> x=647
So 647bhp for a 550rwhp vehicle with a 15% drive-train loss.
Quick method: Divide the 550rwhp by .85 (comes from the 15% drive-train loss) and you end up with 647bhp.
Another example would be 550rwhp with a 18% parasitic loss drive-train (82% gets to the ground) would put the motor at 670bhp (550/.82).
And 500rwhp @ 15% parasitic loss is 588bhp (500/.85).
Oh and you can estimate the rwhp if you know the drive train loss and the base hp.
Say you have a 18% drive-train loss (82% gets to the ground) and a engine dyno that puts the motor at 500bhp.
Rough est is 500*.82 (x/500=82/100) or roughly 410rwhp.
Note: This will drop if the intake flow, exhaust flow and computer tune on the vehicle are not up to par with the engine dyno's test.
You can also figure out the drive-train loss if you know the bhp and the rwhp.
Example: Take my first dyno run when my 05 GTO was bone stock. It put down 340rwhp and the car should have been 400bhp.
hard math: 340/400=x/100 <--> 400x=34000 or x=34000/400 so x=85 and 100-85=15
So my drive line eats up roughly 15% of my engines power.
Now I can combine information with my last dyno run which was 409rwhp sae adjusted. @ 15% drive-train loss that puts the car at around 481bhp.
End Examples... end rant, I didn't get enough sleep yesterday... I need to get a life... good night.

If you want 500 rear wheel HP and a smooth idle you better get a SUPERCHARGER or a 402-427 Stroker.
Oh I just read that you want 550rwhp, you need all of the above (supporting mods)and a SUPERCHARGER ! That cam will work well with a S/C in the future tho!
All you need to know about LS2s in the 1/4.
OP:
If you want a daily driver that is good for 500rwhp with stock like idle and driveability. Just buy some headers and a TVS1900.
If you want a cam, contact Ed@ FlowtechInduction.com and ask him for his advice.
