For $900, you should not have to do that

Yes, and for the price of any automobile, you shouldn't have to pay to get the extra performance out of what's already there, but we live in a world where we have to compromise when we deal with mass produced items.

subscribed, Nice picts and port job.

I want to see the ported throttle body picts as I'll be doing the same this weekend.

What about the entrance or mouth to the runner, are you doing any work there on the other end?

I can stick my hand into the snout with the intake assembled and feel a ridge of the intermediary black plastic that is constricting the runner enterance/mouth opening. Both the 78 and the 92 both have this ridge.

Last edited by dmiz0420; 12-18-2009 at 11:11 AM. Reason: After feeling inside the fast 78, it appears both the 78 and the 92 both have this ridge.

I can stick my hand into the snout with the intake assembled and feel a ridge of the intermediary black plastic that is constricting the runner enterance/mouth opening. When I put a Fast 78 on it, the ridge feels flush with the opening to the runner (which indicates a larger runner or some differnce).
hi guys.

i have finished the porting job on the TB and mouth i´ll post pics today,

And i finished the Fast too, but i´m waiting for my heads to come out of the milling, and then can matche them together, heads and Fast.

will keep you posted.

sorry been busy...

i´m not finished porting, but mostly.
i´ve not matched the fast intake to the heads, because i´m waiting for them. (they are in milling)
so maby i´ll take more of it for the runners.....?

but here is a little sample i´ve been doing....

And for the LS2 90mm TB i forgotte to take photos before, so....
but here is photo of unported ls2 TB that i googled...

here is after porting

I´m not finished porting the TB and matche it to the intake´s mouth, but i opened the tB up for the 92mm fast mouth in first, but i was maby thinking, should i open up the mouth more, and porte the TB to matche, i think it´s material for it, maby 93-95mm,
What do you guys think???

let me know what you think.....

Yes it is.... true true....

hopefully i´m increasing the flow.... a bit.

i bought also the SLP bellow hose to replace the restricted orginal air-bridge.

i´m running MTI ram-air honker air intake kit.

so hopefully me 402 can now breathe better....

hi

Got the heads back before christmas and i threw them on just to matche the fast on.
And i can say: my small TFS 215cc are "NOT" perfect fitt , the runners are too small

so it´s a lot more port work in my garage next days....

can´t see how people can spend time and money increasing their flow threw their intakes and then leave these walls in the runners.
Before pics:

will poste when i´m done.

Default I have a little time so I subscribed

Monday I am taking my fast apart and Ill be porting it. I think this is a great thread and I love the arrows to indicate exactly where you are removing material.
If you get time list the tools, paper grit, or whatever you found to make the job easier and better.

I have a LOT of time so ill just probably use hand paper and elbow action.

Given the shape of the intake port where it mates the head, it exposes a flat face of the cylinder head. Would it make sense to radius the diagonal portion of the catherals on the head side? Seems like a sharp edge there would cause some turbulence.. I'm not saying to open the port up, just break the sharp edge on the head with a small radius

that exactly what i did, i grind of the edge, on both ends of the intake runners on the heads , matched it to the fast and made it smooth, so it should flow well all the way down.

will post pics... later.

I also ported the Maf a little and polished it.
will post pics.

On porting on Fast I used carbites, and sand paper 240, 320, water +600, and last water+ 800, then used Mothers plastic polish last.
and same on the the head but used Moters Billet metal polish last.

With what you talking about on corners. I had a friend that bolted his intake to the head like you did and sprayed some bright blue paint into the head and where ever he saw blue he ported out his self. Then cleaned and it matched up nice when he was done

Looks good, but remember, it's only a good mod if your engine likes it. Hopefully you'll have a chance to dyno it compared to a bone stock FAST. Too many people get ported intakes that have been ported wrong and wind up making less power than stock. Looks are one thing (which your's looks very nice cosmetically), but performance is what matters. I hope yours winds up being as fast as it looks.

porting on the head to match the intake can and will hurt flow numbers if you don't absolutly know what you're doing....even if you add a couple CFM, you might lose velocity. My FAST didn't match my PRC 5.3 heads on the top or bottom, there was probably 3/16" of the heads port sticking up into the intakes port. i left it alone because i was shown tests where the engines performance suffered because of simple port-matching.
