deleting the vvt
I.m a newb here so have patience.I just bought an 07 l92 with 7000 miles.I would like to get rid of vvt because I'm going carb and msd. What front cover and timing chain assembly oil pump do I need to complete this? Also I'm going to need front acc.drive.Any ideas ,I'm hoping I did'nt jump in over my head.

you'll get ZERO respect in this forum because you choose to run a carb, so look in the conversions and hybrid forum. Lots of good stuff in there for us carb guys.
Removing the VVT is easy. LS2 timing cover(cam sensor in cover), LS2 top timing gear, 3 bolt cam. thats it.
Check to be sure your engine does NOT have DOD/AFM. Look at the valley cover, if its flat your good to go, if it has a "maze"-like apearence chances are you have AFM, which means you`ll need to replace the oilpump, and lifters with regular LS2 stuff as well.

Talk to Geoff at Engine Power Systems; he can tell you all about what VVT has done, dyno proven. He has access to more dyno data than I do - most people around here scarcely know what VVT is or want anything to do with it. I guess they think it's some kind of STD or something.

leave Mikes87ss alone. I have a interest in his VVT cover. LOL

No, not missing anything. You're absolutely right about high rpm...I commented on low rpm. The dyno lines were virtually identical up to about 4800, thus no loss below 4000. The losses from eliminating VVT occur at high rpm, not low. I guess another way to look at it would be that without VVT you have to choose how you want it...set up for low rpm power or high rpm power. With the VVT you can have both.

lol @ all the VVT lovers. I'll have all the VVT stuff for sale from a low milage L92 engine. Let me know if you guys really want it. I have no interest in it, and I've never had an engine that didn't already have enough power below 4000.
