Default Smog in California

I live in California and I had a question about smog. I have LT's 3" ORY, if I weld 2 cats on the ypipe, will it pass the sniffer and visual?

It's really up in the air if you'll pass the sniffer or not with welding on catalytic converters. Did you get LT's with egr and air provisions? As far as visual, NO, you will not pass a visual. All cars in California must have factory equipped exhaust manifolds and factory equipped catalytic converters.

Nope. It will fail the visual, even if it passes the sniffer test.

CARB smog requires OEM cats in the OEM location, and if you have anything other than factory exhaust manifolds they need a CARB exemption #.

Hmmm, what if I knew a shop that would over look the visual? MY LT's has the EGR and Air Provisions.

well if you had a shop that could hook you up, I'm a little lost at what the question is. If the shop is going to over look the visual, the sniffer shouldn't be a problem.

Well I'm selling the car and the buyer is asking if he welds 2 cats on the ypipe if it will pass. He may know someone that won't care about the visual but just needs to pass the sniffer.

The higher RPM section of the sniffer is where it is questionable. Some say yes and some say no. Only one way to know for sure, right?
