Default Exhaust upgrade for 2000 Firehawk

Apologies in advance if this has already been discussed to death, but I can't seem to find the exhaust discussion I am looking for. With the already pretty darn good exhaust that the 2000 Firehawk comes with stock, is it worth putting on headers? What gains will I see? Which headers are best for performance? What about the rest of the stock exhaust? I really don't care about "better sound". Thanks!

Well for one you have this in the wrong section.

Secondly your stock exhaust flows like garbage (have you seen your y-pipe?).

Yes it is worth it, yes it has been discussed to death. Your firehawk is no different than any of the other f-bods so search for what they have done.

Yeah move this to generation III external you will get more help there. Also the stock y pipe is less than desirable. Depends what you want really. Personally I would keep the car stock it will be a collector's car in the next 20 years or so. That's just my .02.

Yeah dont listen to /\ it wont be worth any more in 20 than it is now. Enjoy it now and drop the stock crap right out of there. You will enjoy the car so much more.

Yeah I partially agree with 00transamnh. You will enjoy the car a lot more with mods. Who knows the way the market is now it probably won't be worth anything in 20 years. It's hard telling really. You're going to get a million different opinions on this topic it really just comes down to what you want to do at the end of the day.

have the best of both world - store the old exhaust (just in case the vehicle does gain value over the years) and throw on something bigger and better for playing

You can do whatever you want to the exhaust but unless you change how much air or fuel gets into the combustion chamber you not gonna gain very much performance. all your doin by puttin a exhaust on is changing the backpressure not necissarily making it that much faster

Yeah.... thats not true. Are you telling me a header-back system nets 0 gains?

What a terrible 14th post.

Dont know where you heard that, but full exhaust on an LS car will drop your ET 1/2 a second and gain 30-40 rwhp. At least from my experiences.

^lol True. I dyno'd stock 290/307. After a full exhaust and LS6 intake I'm up to 346/352. Do your exhaust and don't look back.
