Heres a little better picture. and no I replaced the pipe on the inside of the muffler so it would befull flow when the butterfly is open. There is perferations in the pipe so when the butterfly closes it acts just like the stock muffler.

^^thats killer, its like a beefier modded c6 exhaust..
ive got a 3" cutout installed, but its still just the qtp plate (no e cutout yet)
have any pictures of your prototype? i wouldnt mind playing guinnea pig
@ op: the ferrari/vw thing is cool, but i doubt that the 'motor' would work since its designed for blades so much smaller, but the sound performance one looks money
@jimmyblue: that all makes sense; i was trying to think of a setup that had a vacuum signal but electronically controlled; your tps/map idea definitely sounds like

Okay if I do use these old QTP cutouts ive decided to use door popper solenoids and a window switch at the TB linkage for WOT. Ill remote mount the solenoids some probably to reduce heat soak and use a good stiff return spring for the closing aspect. Any further ideas?

I really like Ping King's boost operate switch. I'm mostly trying to track down the valves now instead of having to buy some busted electric cutouts. I think something like a 75mm / 3'' throttle body might work. I've been doing some reading and people mention they don't like the sustained heat too much.
EDIT: http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/in...topic=144990.0 Throttle body information.
The only reason I added this was because the article is from 2002 and it has pictures of a variable exhaust right at the top:

The throttle bodies on mine havent given me a single problem. they are at the rear of the car so heat hasnt got that high. maybe closer to the engine you could have a problem?

A heat riser valve from what year/make of car? Vacuum operated heat riser valves are as varied as vacuum cleaners and catalytic converters.
From previous conversations, I believe you said you were working on something similar to this on the side... Any progress on that?

I know this is an age old dead thread! Has anyone figured how if their is a way to control a NPP system outside the factory and have it open and close under light/heavy load??
