Default what water pump for track motor

So last motor died from overheating.
I already had a 3 inch dual core griffin radiator / 160 thermostat / 2 3000cfm fans

and in the heat of 110 desert track heat. it overheated pretty bad...

now i am going to be having a 418 ls3 block
and i am looking for a new waterpump.

the options are
PRW
Edelbrock
Meziere street
Meziere Race

any help would be greatly appreciated. i did some searching and everyone that i see is running them on a street car when they didnt have overheating issues to begin w/..

How is this car going to be used. Is it a street car, track car?? What kind of racing do you do?

If you drag race and it is a street driven car, then i would say the mezeire street. If your car is an auto x or round track then i would say stick with a mechanical pump like the edelbrock.

I would preffer an Electirc Street form Meziere. Electric pumps are great because you can run them to cool your motor without having to turn the enginge on.

so it is strickly track use. drifting and hpde's
Towed to and from events.
sees 2-3 events per month...

the motor will be in high rpm range constantly never dipping below 4k and always spun up to 7k with times where i am sitting at 7k for a while.

one thing that worries me is that i read the meziere seals fail if the pump is cycled.. and since i store it in the winter months that is a concern of mine.

the other interesting thing i dont see if if there are any flow numbers @ rpm for the edelbrock..

An EWP is not meant for that application, so throw that out altogether. There are only a few options available for mechanical pumps - OEM, Edelbrock, Evans, and Meziere billet ($$$$) are the ones I can think of.

i am running between 5-30 synthetic for the cooler season but when it comes up to temp i am going 10w45 synthetic

brand is mobil 1
w/ knn oil filter..

i also have a 20 row oil cooler as well and both my water and oil temps just rose to + 300
so i dont want to make the same mistake twice.

I'm not sure what a Edlebrock pump flows, I'm sure it will be better then a stock pump.

I would suggest a Mechanical pump for your application. I would also recommand Ron Davis radiator Along with a Fan shroud that covers 100% of the core support.

If you download the Meziere catalog from the website you will find a graph showing the performance of the Mech pump. In the back of the catolog you will find some good info on setting up cooling and start system.

I don't see a 10W-45 oil anywhere, who makes it?

FWIW, Bondurant was running Mobil-1 15W-50 in their LS1 Vettes in Chandler, AZ back in 2004 when I was there. I saw oil temp peak at ~305degF after an hour or so on track, but the shop guys said they had had no engine failures after switching to the thick stuff.

my mistake it was 10w40

crainholio, what was the water temp tho?
when i overheated
both my water and oil temp were pegged on my 300F max temp gauge.

it was soo hot it all boiled out of my overflow tank leaving no coolant behind.

1 leg... the main thing w/ the flow @ rpm is a concern of mine. since mine will be higher rpm i need to see what rpm the pump is at peak..
just cause x pump would flow y at z rpm doesnt mean it will be proper.

i am definitely going to read through the meziere catalog.. it is some interesting reading.
