That didn't come out right. really I see 2 examples of 500 cam only LS3's , but Im can give you more ex.'s of 450-480 cam only (bolt on cars) My point is people come on here quoting builds but where are theirs. It's not as easy as just bolting on parts and running a #. Be it at the track or racing a dyno. Steven of LMR stated that they are making 470-480 with their Gen 5 Camaro builds. Cam and bolt on cars. He told me this after we dynoed 487 on slicks at their dyno day.
If you throw money at a shop it may happen, doing it on your own with help is harder then every one believes. The board would be full of 500RWHP daily drivers if you listen to others. Ok back to work on my sons 85 K10 truck. OUUT

I made 465/430 on LMR's dyno in a 98 Z28. Their stage II cam, 1 7/8 ARH, SLP dual dual, 85mm Z06 MAF, 92mm TB, plain jane lid, UD pulley...everything else factory. With 3" duals (x-pipe), a big MAF and TB, and a FAST intake. Even with a 9", use something besides an LS7 clutch and you will get there with the factory longblock, no worries. AI heads will put you well over the top. Want more reliable? Use a GM baby cam and Maggie...boom, 600rwhp and reliable with fewer spring changes.

I appreciate all the input! I updated the list in the 1st post of the setup I'm running. Its fine if my setup doesn't make 500 at the wheels, I just wanted to know what it takes to do so and everyone's input really helped me learn a lot. As of right now my project is at a halt because I had to spend the money on home improvements. So, when I do get around to putting the car back together, its probably going to be a very simple build. I may have the L92 heads ported, or I may just sell them and pick up GMPP's CNC LS3 head.

I just picked up a L92 short block with a complete LS3 intake. I'll be putting stock LS3 heads on there with upgraded springs. Also going with Texas-Speed's 231/236 114lsa cam. Other supporting mods are my modified C6Z CAI, 1 3/4 headers with x-pipe and bullet mufflers. Car is a 2002 C5 coupe, A4 with a 3600 Yank SS with a 3.42 rear. Aiming for 480rwhp, 500 would be awesome.
I wanted to ask in case anyone on this thread knows, can the stock high volume L92 oil pump be used with the C5's batwing oil pan or will there be oiling issues?

I didn't see it in this thread i guess, but i remember reading that it can lead to pumping the pan dry when discussing an f-body pan. I don't have any facts or sources to back this up though...
There was a history of AFM pumps failing and causing issues such as low oil pressure or noise. My LS4 in my old GXP had a noisy pump.

Its actually not a high volume pump, its a high pressure pump, since the VVT works off of oil pressure sent through the second cam bearing, into the holes in the second cam journal, and through the center of the cam to the cam phaser. You NEED to switch it to a standard pump.

Nothing. It's grippy, smooth, reliable, and cheap. It is also heavy and will cost a few ponies on your dyno sheet, which seems a bit of a priority given the thread title.
You'll easily get DEEP into the upper 400s with a good cam and headers. To get to or over the 500 mark on a stingy dynojet, you'll have to sweat the details just a bit.
