Default Truck Motor

I picked up an 08 LY6 long block with very low miles. Story goes it was wrecked in 08 and been sitting in a warehouse since. I want to put it in my 1 ton Jeep where I only use 1500-4500 rpm range on the trails, streets and freeway driving on 40 inch tires. It's got 823 heads, pcm, harness,a/c, starter,alt, water pump. I have up 241 heads, ls1 corvette exhaust manifolds sitting around.
Question is should I run the ly6 heads and buy a LS3 or truck intake or revert the top of the motor to ls1 parts in effort to get better low end torque and economy? The latter would require a custom tune of course. Any thoughts or ideas here? any help is welcome!

It comes with dished pistons and 9.6 :1 cr, I'm thinking I would want to raise cr to 10.5 ish to get better torque.

Why not just use the truck intake? sounds like it was made for low rmp with high TQ. truck exhaust manifolds and accessories are cheap.

Keep the truck intake, well ya know that would probly make it simpler as far as programming and allow me to keep the vvt feature.
If anyone knows where to find an LY6 intake, LMK.
Would anyone know if the L92 intake is the same or better? The LS3 intake would look better but cost more and maybe nor as torquey?

I would like to raise the CR. maybe mill the heads and/or a .040 head gasket?

That too. Keep the VVT but if it has DOD ditch that part. The truck intake is suppose to be a tad better than the LS3 intake in all regards. Problem is that with a lot of cars there is not a lot of clearance in order to fit the truck intake.

I'm pretty sure the LY6, L76 and L92 intakes are are the same (Gen 4 truck intake). Most people refer to them as the L92 intake.

I got an L92 type already but thanks, I'll keep you in mind in case it doesn't work out.

For your application the truck intake would be the better option. There is a comparison of flow between the two intakes here (there are small differences between the L76 and LS3, but mainly refinements. They flow the same).

But I would also retain the variable valve timing. In my truck, the stock LY6 pulls really hard from the low RPM's through about 4000-4500. Probably the range you are looking for.

casias, sounds good. That is the range I'm lookin fer. I'm picking up an L92 cam and just got the heads milled .04. should be 10.5:1 scr, little more cam, now to figure out how to get it tuned. Oh and the 4l80 rebuild.

I bought a Diablosport Intune I-1000. That corrected some of the shifting issues, as well as allowed me to dial out some of the short and long term fuel trim that it was running. Idle is smoother now, slow cruise and mid cruise is quieter and more responsive, and it picked up about 2 miles per hour on my unofficial test strip.

I am still running truck manifolds, so I haven't seen the need to put in a cam yet. This truck just drives real good the way it is.
