Default Why buy an LS2 over L76

I'm this close to buying a LS2 for my swap project, then I started researching L76. Please school a noob, but why would anyone buy a LS2 over an L76?

It seems the budget mods for an LS2 are L92 heads, ls3 intake and a cam. With an L76 you get l92 heads and LS3 intake stock. All you need is a cam and Dod delete kit and wouldn't you have more power than a stock LS2 for less money. I was preparing to spend $4k for an LS2, but L76 can be had for less the $3k.
Again with a cam and Dod delete kit shouldn't I be right at LS2 money with with l92 heads and ls3 intake already?
Aren't the bottom ends the same?

The biggest argument FOR an LS2 would be that if you have a 24x car (LS1 car), you can swap in an LS2 from a GTO without any conversion electronics, or a crank reluctor change. There are SOME LS2's (like TBSS trucks) that have a 58 tooth wheel...so they do require the same conversion electronics that an L76 requires to run in a 24x car.

If you can get the L76 for that much cheaper (and the same miles) then yeah it kinda makes sense to go with that.

However, the LS2 has higher compression, the right reluctor wheel and seemingly better topend for the 4" bore. Yes the L92s are beastly, but are not as well setup for the smaller bore.

Another downside is that I would have to run a 6l80e as opposed to a 4l60e. I think the 4L would bolt up, but would require a standalone to run.

Does anyone know if the L76 DOD is confined to the engine and controller, or elsewhere on the chassis as well?

Built an L76, did the DOD delete and swapped a EPS cam, springs and push rods too. I run the 4L80E with mine.

The L76 is 10.4 to 1 compression, perfect for me.
