6.0 Engine Rebiuld
I have a LS2 GTO with 167 thousand miles there is some rod knock (not the everyday piston slap), but i have been wanting to rebuild for a couple years now so this seems like a good excuse. (: I have a vararam cold air intake, kooks headers (1 7/8") and SLP II exhaust eliminating that cat. I'm looking to get around 500-550 horsepower just something to play around on the streets with and drive on weekends.
Any advice on what parts to get? not only do i want this GOAT to be bad but i want it to sound like a monster being woke up when i start it.
Side notes- Is it necessary to replace oil pump? I've heard to do this because the GTO doesn't have an oil gauge and they are common to go out?

The oil pump would be a good idea, not that they go out, but because of the mileage and the fact that you will "be in there anyway". It's a good time to just generally freshen things up.

Makes sense, is there anything else I should "freshen up" while everything is already taken apart?

Crankshaft Suggestion?
Hi, I will make a guess :
My all forged crankshaft kit (4.00") at 1835 BW balanced including NPR STEEL rings, pistons 4.007", King bearings with cost of $1850. (FOB)
Most here call this a LS-402
A Crower Cams regrind, your core at $200.00
A single Avon Steel billet Timing Set
A 2010 Camaro Oil Pump at $100.00

^^^^ What Lance says above^^^^
PLUS- Maybe a new set of lifters, pushrods(measure for those!), & lifter trays.
These are just suggestions; If you deal with Lance he will steer you in the right direction.
