Thumbs up for Rick Crawford. A true data hound! How many cams was it? 22? All tested in the same car and data shared. Nice guy too

I sent a LS3 manifold to Rick, he did his magic then sent it back. My car is a 06 GTO with LS3 heads that I had Advanced Induction do some work on. I'm running a Cam Motion cam and the sbe. The car pulled 480/434.

Before or after the rodmod? If after, what did it do before? Or vice-versa?

Never heard of this. What is the theory behind the rod/how does it pick up power. Does this work for other gm intakes like the ls2 or ls6? What happens if you ported the ls3 intake then did the rod mod?

They theory is the rods act as a bellmouth on the runner and channel more air.

My understanding based on a comment in an email from Rick Crawford is this only works with the LS3 but eventually I hope to ask him for more details.

That is what is happening. It would be interesting to see someone with the right equipment to analyze exactly what is happening and why. Then maybe a more efficient intake manifold can be produced.

So if we know whats happening, y cant it be done on cathedrals? Something to do with rect ports? Y not ls7?

When my 99TA finish getting the new 416 installed at Norris Motorsports, I hope to pull my old LS6 intake. There are a lot of LS6 tests intended for my old LS6 intake like base line flow test, then 90mm snout, more flow testing.

My theory is the narrower cathedral intake port doesn't respond much to the Rod - but I have nothing to base that guess on.Another guess is, it could be that terrible narrow stock snout on the LS6 intake is the real problem with getting the Rod correctly positioned. The Ls6 might need a radical port to remove the center support for the rods to work.

My hunch is to take an LS6 and make it like the working RR LS3 intake as much as possible , 90 mm snout, radical port removing Center supports - then fiddle with Radius rods.

After all of that is done, I want to see if Rick will consider trying a Radius Rod Mod for it. Otherwise, I may ask the cylinder head shop to test my LS6 intake with a wooden dowel temporarily attached to simulate a Radius rod.

It won't be cost effective probably but it might be very effective as a sleep mod.

That's my long term goal but it will take a while to happen. The TA is front and center with the 416 swap for me right now and work is very busy.

How long did it take to get the intake back?

See if post #21 helps. It usually takes a couple days for him to respond to me.

Not sure what to tell you, my understanding is that he's a one man shop working out of his garage. You could try Gwatney Performance, I read somewhere that Rick approved them do make the same style mods using his process.

Ordered the fully ported intake, they had 2 in stock. See how it works! I'm thinking it'll be like upgrading from LS1 to LS6 intake.

Hey Flint, will you post a few pictures when you get your intake?
