Default What Engine oil for built LS3?
What brand and what weight of engine oil would y’all recommend for an HCI LS3? 505 RWHP, 6-speed street use only...

If the engine hasn't been opened up....go with what GM recommends.

If the engine has been opened up, go with what the engine builder recommends.

Stock rotating assembly has not been touched, but I did forgot to mention that it has a melling high volume/high-pressure pump.

I would use 5W-30 AMSOIL Signature Series, No need for more than
30 Wt for a SBE Street application. With no cats, significantly higher
Spring pressures and intermittent use, I would suggest Z Rod 10W-30 for
Higher ZDDP and anti rust, corrosion inhibitors.

Full disclosure, 28 year user & dealer of AMSOIL, The best synthetic oils
Available, Not just my opinion.

5W-30 in the cooler months and 10W-30 in the warmer months here in SoCal. Pick your favorite Full Synthetic.

The oil change intervals are FAR more important than the weight you choose.

Is that what you run?
Yes with my old combo(LT1)--when it was still street driven. In fact, Gm used Mobil one 15w50 on all their corvettes from the factory back then.
Now with my new combo, I run Valvoline VR1 20w50.

GM specified 15W-50 for track operation of C7 Corvettes.
Not aware of any street/production spec other than
5 or 10 W-30 in any C4,5,6, or 7 in any pushrod engine
In the US (Excluding C4 ZR1).
Could you provide documentation.
