Default 102 throttle body DBW

Some experiences here with this TB, someone bought it and use it with success?

I've got the NW 102 DBW and I know they are notorious for being hard to tune but with a competent tuner and a little extra time they work with out a problem. They pop up on here every now and then in the for sale section for a decent price.

Nick williams is still one of the only DBW wire 102's you can get but they still have issues with boost so people usually end up selling them and moving to the boosted version or cable driven.

well, there is bigger for sure. Check out the Southways 108. It’s capable, but costs about 3 times as much as a NW 102.

I use a 4” rubber coupler that I bought from a reputable vendor that deals in intake tubing items only. It will go on, but requires a little elbow grease. I bought my carbon fiber tubing from same vendor.

Which is the exact diam on the 102 TB to fit a elbow coupler, cant imagine a 4" is enough, cuz thats exactly 101.6mm...

The OD of the NW is just around 4.125. The 4 inch silicone tubing with stretch over the flange but you will need a 4.25, not just a 4 inch hose clamp.

Thanks!
I wasn't sure if it would stretch or not. Seems like sizes go from 4" to 4.5"

Lots of places in china are notorious for getting US made products, reverse engineering them, and sticking them on the market for cheap.

it's been happening with a lot of other parts.

screw them, just for doing that, not just for lousy quality.

That's pretty misleading at best....... I would suggest a google search. If you are familiar with tuning them they are not as bad but not every tuner is equal and they can be a pain at times to get dialed in.

It's not misleading at all. I would suggest an in depth google search.

I mean, honestly, if your tune is already dialed in on an E40, the ECM already knows the idle airflow and startup airflow requirements. None of that will change. It just needs to know how big the TB is so it can translate those to a position value for a given airflow requirement.

if you get a dramatic increase in airfow because you switch to a bigger TB, i can imagine having to do some additional retuning.

i have read boosted guys have issues with NW102's, but i also read that has been corrected. I have no experience using it with boost.
