LS2 Waterpump on LS3 block Going Into a 2002 F body - Accessory drive alignment
Built an LS3 416 that is going into a 2002 Trans Am.
FAST 102, so I needed the LS2 pump as my LS1 pump was too tight.
Got everything bolted back together and the belt tensioner seems like it is sitting a half an inch or so rearward of the rest of the pulley's.
All I can think of is that this has to do with the LS2 pump being set (depth wise) for the corvette/gto accessory drive?
Should I just space the tensioner? What's the proper fix for this?
Thanks

If the tensioner is all that is out of line, get the correct one. All pulleys, accessories, etc. must be of the same alignment "family". Corvette is the closest, then Gen IV F-body, then furthest out is Gen V F-body/truck. I forget where GTO and CS-V fit in.

So, I thought that's what I bought... but I guess not. The only markings on mine are A1653 18-1653. I cannot tell what pump this is for.
What is the correct part number for the GTO LS2 pump with the same spacing as the Fbody? Is it 251-744?
What pump do I have currently?
Thanks

Failing that, change all front end accessories to that from a vehicle that runs the inner belt position, whether Vette or LS3 cars etc.

LS1 and LS2 tensioners are interchangeable other than the LS2 pulley has a taller rim (a good thing). You might have to use some spacers to get the alignment you need.
For what it's worth, I have an LS2 water pump and it works fine. Doesn't solve your problem though.

LS1's came in Vettes AND F-bodies, so there would be TWO different LS1 tensioners. As was said, accessory parts are not engine related, but chassis related due to different spacings.

Sorry for misinformation. At one time I was throwing belts with LS1 tensioner and looked into using the LS2 tensioner for its taller pulley rim. I guess my memory was wrong and they swapped the pulley itself, not the whole tensioner.
