LS3 -PD XS Intake **New**
#21
I have started porting the 103 and smoothing the transitions into the intake. There was an edge (drop down) that I ground down and my 102 has been ported to 103 as well to insure a perfect port match. Everything has been rounded smooth with extra grinding that is hard to explain. Here are some pictures. I will port match the runners and smooth the bell mouth. It will killer!!
Smooooooth!!!
Just mint!!!!! Happy with the porting, now just sanding very smooth then polishing.

I recently installed one on my A6 LS3 H/C Vette, results were a tad unexpected.
It made more top end but my low power band seems odd

Red stock..
Green heads cam stock intake.
Blue Performance design intake.
That seems weird, as it should have made more power from 4 to 7k rpm. Somethings not right. These intake runners are way better than stock.
One guy made good gains already. Your stock TB is small you should be running a 102.
I'll be running a ported 102 with my intake, on a mustang dyno in May. This will be a true test. Big cam and high flowing heads. I bet I gain at least 20 across the board.

@1786 Vlogs SS just noticed that its an older pic of when it had the stock ls3 tb, currently have a 102mm since the intake I got was one of the batches that came out as a 90mm-101mm.
@MuhThugga it was after a dyno tune
As far as power, ive yet to go full WOT.

Looks like the before and after dynos were done in different gears. The bottom scale is in mph and vastly different ending points. I am going to guess no tq numbers because the tach pickup wasn't working. See if you can get the run files and then you will have the raw data and can try and calculate rpm from the mph and your gear ratios. Should be able to get a closer comparison even though it won't be dead on.

I'll be dynoing in May on a dyno I always use. 4th gear no bullshit and on a mustang dyno. I trust this dyno. When I did TSP heads, with some amazing porting on my part. I made an extra 35hp...this is exactly in line with TSP 260 LS3 heads and was using their "As a Cast Head". Again this dyno doesn't lie!!!! Here's a pic of my glorious heads. I also thermal coated the exhaust port.

I did an interesting thing....how about a hybrid setup using billet adapter plates and bolted to an LS7 head ?
The runner lengths are quite long, but 600 ft/lbs at 5100 rpm on a LS7 stroker.

Adapter plates are not ideal. I know there working on an LS7 version, but MSD has something similar... Performance Design has an excellent design. I don't know why people aren't posting there results. Fast 102 offers nothing....it's a overpriced paper weight.

But, I'm on a slightly different path than you.
I've tested various Performance Design intakes and lids over the years and my testing and gut feeling is that this will ultimately proves to be the best overall intake that fits under a low hood line but lets the engine breather (for us big stroker guys).
I don't want to cloud up your thread, but it's nice to see others giving this intake a shot

Even better than an MSD? Can't wait to see the data I know you have a LOT of testing.
Unless you're looking for low end improvement and average power. Trying to hook-up 600wtrq must be fun haha! Excited to see your results, and that there's another intake getting into the mix.
I love the fit and finish of this thing.

- Awesome to see someone doing some cool mods. I don't know if you noticed but shaved the tops of my runners, that was a ton of work. Clean air flow with the lid on. I also port matched my XS intake to my TSP heads. Post some pics of your setup.
Shaved top of XS runners
Port matched to head.

The LS3 spec version of this intake has runners that are considerably longer than the MSD runner, and the plenum volume is 4 liters bigger !!!!
Add the native support for the 112mm throttle body, and this thing is a winner
My volumetric efficiency in the 4000 to 5500 range went up so much I had to increase the fueling in that range by 20% +
My car spun the tires at 95 MPH....in 3rd gear trying to do a Dragy 60-130 pull !!!
Another bit of interesting info to note....
Caleb (owner of Performance Design) was brought in by MSD to design the MSD Atomic Airforce intake....so in effect he's the creator of both the MSD and XS intake
He was also originally one of the lead engineers at Katech.
I'll start my own thread to share what I've seen so far, and to put some context to the testing and results so people don't immediately jump to conclusions based on my hybrid testing.

Installed the coil packs, but being the genius I am, I used the supplied spacers to lift the whole pack holder instead of lifting the coil it self as per the instructions. Yes you have to cut coil pack holder, was pretty easy to do. Today I built my fuel line and finished up my pvc line.
