416 l92 with race gas or mixed
i have a 416 ci ported l92s looking to swithch it over to race gas or maybe a mix, is there power to be found doing this?? and what kind of race gas vp ??
only thing that running a race gas might let you do is run a little more timing safely, if you want to try some thign like a 105 unleaded and retune the car for it, go for it. But with 11 to 1 comp I doubt that it's needed.

I have a 12:1 static, 8.9DCR 346 that needs 50% 100 octane race fuel to keep it from knocking, and that's with only 25 degrees of timing, in 25 minute road race events.
If you can run 28 degrees without knock, don't waste your money on expensive gas.
PS. I'm building a L92 415 with 7.9DCR so I won't have to buy race gas @ $8.75 gal.

How much timing are you able to run on pump gas? I ran my 12:1 L92 setup on 93 octane but could only add 24 degrees of timing. At 11.3:1 I was able to run 29 without KR - still on 93.
If KR is limiting the amount of timing you can run to below 28 degrees, I'd think about running something higher than 93 and more timing if your looking for best results.
