Thinking about running a carb on LSX with LS7 heads
Here's the setup so far:
LSX block, Callies 4.125" crank, custom 4.125" -20cc Wiseco pistons for 300+ shot, Lunati Pro Billet 6.125" rods, ported and polished LS7 heads, billet double roller timing chain ---- all equals 441ci with an 11:1 CR, wanting to run E85 and a 300 shot. Looking for 650 rwhp NA.
Now, I've planned all along to run FI, but now I'm hearing people are making more power with a carb setup. Since I haven't yet purchased anything for the fuel system or the induction, I have no quams about going either way right now.
The car will be used on the street on weekends, but will be raced. IThe car will also be driven on the HOT ROD Power Tour.
Obviously FI has many benefits when talking about driveability, but the carb setup would be cheaper and yeild more power.
What do you think? Let the arguments begin.

Thing is, Carbs are easier to tune and adjust for most people. A selection of jets is cheaper than EFI tuning software. And its way simpler.
Thats why we have the 'Carbs make more power" myth, because people refuse to admit they just dont know how to tune EFI. and thats Ok, carbs work great for what they are. The other part is carb manifolds are usually better flowing than other manifolds, LS family especially.
For your use, I would say run a carb, and maybe even a distributor as well. It will make adjusting your set up on race days much easier. UNless you, or someone you pay, is really good at EFI tuning.
