I wonder what the gain would be on a H&C with ported fast intake car? I like that the maf and IAT are combined in the same housing. I would that that would lead to slightly more accurate intake temps.

This is definetly for large cube setups. Yeah, you would probably see some sort of gain on a 346, but no where near as much.

Whatever happens the stock LS1 ECM cannot see more than 512g/sec of air, it will max out under boost on a 75mm MAF.

The only benefit the 100mm one will have is less restriction. It will also max out at 512g/sec which IIRC is around 450rwhp. Again a reason why MAF's suck and Speed Density will carry on until the ECM can no longer drive the injectors over 1000bhp..

Resolution also drops at this point as the Hz vs airflow line is not linear, rather more like half of a bell curve, so maybe this 100mm can make that better at the top end.

Once the ECM runs out of MAF capacity you are fueling off the PE and VE tables.

Why not just do a speed density tune and call it done?

I'll be running vic jr. or super vic if it ever comes out with an elbow and 105mm tb.

Climate variations and dry nitrous use. I know there's a way to tune dry nitrous in speed density, but for those of us who have no idea on tuning its nice to let the maf do the work.

Climate variations is rubbish. The engine has a MAP sensor and IAT sensor for temperatures and pressure. What the MAF does do is automatically adjust for engine wear and minor mods. SD would need touching up for each mod as well as needing a touch up as the engine wears.

it would be nice to have a 100mm Maf, lid, and maybe something to go on top of my L92 heads other than this stock L76 intake.

im still rocking my stock Maf on my 402, i wonder what kind of gains i would get by stepping up to the 100mm setup

getting around the 512 g/sec is the easy part, it is just scaling values in the pcm, we have been doing it for years in the ford world, and even ford did the same on the ford GT supercar.

It is finding somebody to make a maf that will register more than the 512 g/sec and then tuning for it, that hasn't been done. I have been tempted to get the maf's made, but with the general lsx belief that the maf is bad, and the speed density tune rules, it does not look like a good business practice.

True, I guess you can scale. Makes the tune harder to read, but as long as it works thats not really a problem.

Guys we hope to have additional dyno tunes very soon. The speed density tune isn't for everyone, this product is for guys wanting big power out of MAF setups. We've only tested it on one heads cam car so far & it made 5-7rwhp gains... I'll keep you guys posted, but it will definately need tune changes...

do you guys have any idea on how much this would cost for maf and lid?

Jason has been working on a stock F-body calibration that will come on a sheet included with the 100mm MAF to give guys a very close starting point, but ultimately should need some tweaking on individual cars. With absolutely no tuning the setup would have been way off.

Hopefully that makes sense to someone, I don't tune LS1's myself.
The BSFC was VERY different between the two runs. With the 85mm MAF it averaged .37 and with the 100mm MAF it averaged .275. This suggests that there was a significant dfference in AFR on the two runs which may account for some or all of the power increase.

Geoff,

That's actually a completely incorrect statement. The fuel delivery system on the dyno was altered in between dyno runs. These changes made a significant change to the fuel monitoring.

I will provide you guys with detailed dyno results with the a/f data when I get back into town. I even have a dyno sheet where the engine went from low 13s air fuel with the 85mm to a 11.5ish a/f with 100mm maf. Even with the engine going way richer it was up over 8hp. The power gains are no doubt attributed to the increase in airflow potential from this sensor.

Common sense would telll everyone here that the extra air flow potential from the larger maf would easily explain the power increases we see here. Don't you figure if the SD tunes gain power from getting rid of the maf restriction that increasing the maf size to larger than the TB size would also cause a power increase?
