I have a 1 7/8 stepped to 2 with the 3.5 merge collector from Nick and they are top notch! Build quality is great. My motor should be here next week, so we will get them installed asap and get some big cube numbers. They sure do look great hanging on my shop showroom wall though!

With the parts I'm looking at adding I am sure the old 1 3/4 qtp headers will fit I have now, but going to a bigger size, I am sure will get me in the realm of something custom made.

fwiw 402, 13.5 to 1 compression and 100 to 150 hp of nitrous, I am sure that going bigger will help, car makes 480rw with a nitrous tune thru a 5400 converter and a th400 no lockup. I think n/a it may benefit, I'm sure on the jug it will certainly help. I'm on the fence about what to do with the whole situation, I know I want to go bigger with the headers and I am sure it will help, it's just a matter of how much will it help and is it worth the $ vs. leaving what I have already on there. Car is race only if it matters.
JL, There's no doubt you're way down on power, especially on the bottle. Pricing for custom S/S headers built on the car is usually $2200 or more. Our S/S 1-7/8 X 2" headers with custom sized 3-1/2" collectors sells for $1125.00

In your particular case you'd be better off with straight 1-7/8" headers with 3-1/2" collectors and our custom Y-pipe. I think it would be smart if we spoke by phone. I'll get you all the details on what system will work best. You can reach me 631-608-1986. Thanks.

I'm not gonna run a Y at all, I was planning on a couple strait extensions to a couple mufflers just quiet enough for e-town not to bitch. Ground clearance doesn't really concern me, as long as I can get the car on and off the trailer without bottoming it out, that's all I really need.

Sooner or later I'm gonna up the nitrous on this thing, when I get tired of running in the mid 9's with it. Not sure if that will impact what would work or not. I'm not planning on doing anythign right yet, btu I will give you a call when I am ready. Certainly doesn't sound like I want to have headers built on the car that's for sure LOL.

I'm definately planning on attending the Pinks allout again this year, and I would like to go to a race or 2 with you guys. I can't let the all motor clan win all the quick 8 races, a nitrous guy's got to show ya how it's done at least once

I just got a pair of American Racing 2 inch headers and the quality is excellent. I can't wait to get my LSX 427 with my F1A together to see how they do.

Firehawk, Our Y-pipe starts off at 3-1/2" to match the collectors but then reduces to 3" before going into the 2 into 1 merge. The final outlet size can be 3", 3-1/2'' or 4". I can tell you that this Y-pipe set-up can handle extreme amounts of power. You can bypass the dual muffler set-up by running 1 single 3-1/2" or 4" muffler after the Y-pipe and then turn it down.

I'm told that BMR is releasing a new manual rack soon that will clear our headers by a mile.

Nick
This is correct we should have a new kit out in the next month or so that cleared the 2" primaries no problem

Do you make a non reduced 3.5" y-pipe with a 3.5" or 4" outlet?

Only three out of twelve events have been won buy an N/A car. One or two by a twin turbo car and the rest by nitrous. Hope to see you there this season.

Firehawk, Unfortunately we don't make a full 3-1/2" Y-pipe. I'm sure we can custom build one in-house but it would require having the car at our facility.
For additional ground clearance our 3" Y-pipe has oval tubing on the driver's side. To do that with 3-1/2" tubing would be tricky but it is possible.

I don't understand the point of having a 3 1/2" collector if the y-pipe is necked down to 3".

Why would it be so much harder to make, wouldn't you just use a 3 1/2" piece of oval tubing on the drivers side?

With the cars making as much power they do these days I think it is time some one makes a true 3.5" y-pipe, that's off the shelf, I know one thing, custom built = custom built prices and at that point it would be cheaper to do it myself.

So the question is, when can we expect AR to offer a true 3.5" y-pipe to the public at a set off the self price?

Ragen, When there's enough demand. It true these engines are getting increasingly more powerful by the day and we need to stay a step ahead, but the reality is most prefer to stick 2 mufflers on the end of their collectors when going to extremely high power levels. If you're producing big power (800rw or more) and you're doing it with a supercharger, our currently available Y-pipe configuration can more than handle it. On nitrous we've yet to see our Y-pipes limitations though I know without a doubt there's a point where you'll need something more. Try convincing a big cube nitrous customer to stick a Y-pipe on their car and I know the response already.

Getting ready to order the stepped setup, any chance of a group purchase to lower the price at all? Just on the 1 7/8 stepped to 2 " with the 3.5" collectors? maybe add the ORY to it as well. And some ice cream and cake too?

Good ol' supply and demand At least we know you guys at AM are willing to make true 3.5" y's, out of curiosity how much more generally would a custom y pipe be if you did want a true dual 3.5"?
