Default Lifting L92 Heads

Like the title states, I wanna know if anyone has had a problem with lifting an L92 head? It doesnt matter which block you are running. I have been told that with boost over 12PSI that you will lift a head, I dont think the source is reliable but I just wanted to hear what everyone had to say. Because I want to do a 6.0L build with L92 heads.

Well, The new release of a cousin casting of the L92 is in the new LS9 (ZR1). GM states that they are using a stronger metal compound, less porous casting and a 4 layer (instead of traditional 3 layer) multi layer steel head gasket to help sealing with head movement. They are 10:1 comp and 10.5 lbs boost. If I was going FI i'd try to get my hands on some of those 4 layer gaskets.
This would explain why I lifted the heads on my turbo'd 6.0 with L92's on only 4psi. I had solid copper head gaskets and an o-ringed block. When I had 317's I saw evidence on my mls gaskets that they had been leaking by on 10psi boost. Both times it had ARP head studs.

Check out post #7 in this thread.

Many others have posted BIG power with L92's.
A good "safe" tune is obviously key to making good power with a production casting.
Speed Inc. recently did an awesome build with a 68 Camaro.

The boys at Speed are well known for tuning safely to avoid problems.

SDPC has the new gaskets I thought I read 5 layer MLS gaskets. I will be using my set I just bought on my new L92 heads/cam change. I think SDPC said it will replace the old 3 layer on the L92 motors. The L92 heads got rid of the plug on the end of the heads used when casting. This change & better aluminum makes the L92/LS3 a more stable head with less movement & lifting issues.
