spun rod bearing, time for L92 408.
as the title says spun a rod bearing, looking to go to a LQ9 blocked 408 w/ L92 heads and the GMPP carb intake.
looking at using one of the >>>> sponsors engines, HKE, LME, LMR, TSP, etc.
goals for the car.
make 550rwhp n/a
gobs of low end torque.
pump gas, 11.3:1 compression
what about internals? stock crank, what rods/pistons
do the caddy lifters work w/ L92 heads?
not sure on the cam...going to contact Vengeance for the grind most likely.
looking to spray a 300+ shot, with a dedicated fuel cell for the nitrous.
goals are to run low 10's on motor, and a bit faster on the gas.
car has a T56 rebuilds tranny, midwest chassis rear on the way.
just looking for some advice on this motor, want to do it once, and want to do it right...
budget is around 7500 for the motor....

With a 408 your gonna have to decide if you want 550 RWHP or gobs of low end torque. If you want gobs of low end torque the GMPP intake doesn't fit the bill. I'm in the middle of a build similar to this myself and due to $ I am paused. But this is good considering Weiands L92 intake should be out by late summer and Fasts L92 by end of year. Is this a street car?

I was in the same boat as you, now I have an l92/408 iron block. I have the same goals as you but I know low 10's on motor are far fetched cause of the suspension. I have a vette an 01 c5.
I have my own custom grind cam, my old scat rods out of my 346 and a callies crank. caddy lifters will work but I have ls7 lifters in mine. 7500$ should be more than enough...

I was lookin' at your sig and saw your cam now I know why you spun a rod bearing . All I was saying is with that intake (obviously depending on cam choice) you probably won't see peak torque untill 5,000+RPM. With your steep gearing that shouldn't be a big deal. Then again I don't know about nitrous cams so I could be way off.
