Default Putting a Comp LSr into the LS7, anyone else using them yet?

We decided to go with this cam, the smallest rectangular port cam they offer.
54-473-11 247/263 .624/.624 114LSA

Since the car isn't my daily driver anymore we decided to try the latest and greatest. I'm going to mill the PRC heads to bump the compression from the 11.3:1 it is now. Anyone have any feedback on these cams or something similar, looking forward to see what it can do. Looks like I might be a guinea pig again for new parts.

I was wondering why all of their cams stopped at .624" lift? Possibly the PTV clearance. Looking at the numbers, they look very impressive. I was thinking about upgrading to one of those, (I have a 382 w/11.6 comp), LSR cams, #54-461-11. I like the 114LS for better torque and driveability. My buddy just got off the phone and asked if I was upgrading yet. He wants to buy the cam I have now. The new cam would go nice with the new Short Travel Lifters. I think the cam your looking at would be great in a 427 at 12-1 compression. Can you get some numbers soon? I sure know what it's like to be the guinea pig. Comp has been known to produce winners out of the box! Good Luck.

I noticed that too, not sure. Maybe to be usable with the majority of springs out there? I should have numbers by the end of the month. I bought a 2 piece timing cover so I can swap them easily. I figure start with something mean, and if its not tolerable go smaller, because I always seem to want a bigger cam after the first one is in.

I was looking at my catalogue and the 54-474-11 looks very intriging in your case. Comp says it's for 420" motors and up, with high compression. Too bad we don't have dynos and bucks! I want to do a 427 w GT47-88 single turbo for a street project and am looking at their turbo cams. I may go custom. I felt the cam I got from Comp was a little too radical 3 years ago, but these LS motors can flow with the right set of heads! I wish the tech guys could give us more info on these cams. I'll keep looking for your numbers. Good Luck!

comp doesn't have a spring that can handle over .625 lift

It is not for PTV clearance, I just spec'ed out a cam for someone and its 651 lift on a stock bottom 346 w/ no valve reliefs. It's the valve event timing, not the total lift that determines if valves and pistons "meet" each other

after doing some work and a quick Re think 🤔

247/263 .624/.624 114 LSA
With a 408 Hmmmmm. 247 @ .050 with a plastic Factory intake Ls3 or good Cathedral and Aftermarket intake. 🤔

Good for 600+ @ the crank with around 11.5
650 with some Work. 500rwhp with a auto and around 530 to 550 with a manual... Depending on how detailed you Are going after 650+

Can a 408 match or better this build. Wink, wink, if you know Me and Chris Frank factory Ls3 heads. 🤫 The 4 inch stroke will kill a little of the rpm but with just as much Hp and more TQ 🤫

Add + 10 to 20 with a Solid roller and a Hair more rpm with a 247 Solid vs 239 Hydraulic.
247 Solid is really like 242 @ .050. Easily toped with a Little thought? 💡👍 Solid roller? Shoot for more lift ....640ish 🤔 after lash & Deflection More like low 630's high 620's

1) Stay Solid if Possible More HP with little rocker arm Maintenance.
2)Call Cam Motion ask For: Steven or Bobby get a Custom cam with a bit more Lift 🤔 .640'ish to Match:
3) a built 4l60 with 3600 stall stage 2 rear 4.10
4) C5 Vette and it's car weight in Lbs.

Same price as cam Seen or looked @ Custom to your C5 Vette. Think about it? Made 4 U Hmmmmm?
You kinda know where a 247 duration solid roller would place you in the rpm band with a little research and thought.... earlier Post ☝️

But cam duration on the intake Side Sounds good as is. Once you call they'll get you Right On: OverLap, @ idle feel, ⛽ used etc...

What is going to be done with car as far as useage. The gearing is nice the cam is a little big as a hydraulic for a 408 but with good compression and heads will rev nice but cam surge you need to be wary of but you got a loose converter which helps. I have similar cam in a 454 LS7 and it is about as big as I would go for street use but I have a stick and 3.42 in a C6 Corvette. The 50 cubic inches is worth (454 vs 408) about 6 degrees in duration.
