TBSS Custom SI-Torque Camshaft - 214/220 .559/.564 111.5 LSA
I had a 210/222 112 in my SS with full stock exhaust. It made great low end power and pulled cleanly to 6300. It was a little small. For the LS2, I would target -4 to -2 overlap with fast ramps, maybe-4 to -6 with the slow ramps. With a 3000 stall, you really don't need a ton of low end torque. you can only use so much on the highway before the converter will unlock. I would suggest 214/224 112 or 214/228 114 with the slow ramps.
By the way, a 214 XFI intake lobe will give you decent double spring life. Although I can see if you put 30k miles a year on it, that's a spring change once a year.

I drive roughly 15k a year. As for the low end torque, I want to maintain some of this as it is nearly 5000lbs and I do not want to lose stock driveability, for example partial throttle response and everyday driving around.
I am talking to Icon about a camshaft, I will let you know what they come back with, but so far I think the 215/228 looks pretty nice and seems like a lower lift Cheatr cam.

wait... I am confused...
Just remember I need some decent mid-range and low end (needs to pull decently from 2000-up) as it is a daily driver that weighs nearly 5000lbs. I don't want to have to rev the hell out of it to get it going when just driving under 50mph around town.

Go with the PCMforless "attitude cam". You will need headers and stall but you won't be disappointed. I have a buddy that has this set up in his 06 TBSS and he loves it. I drove it and Alvin at PCMforless has his running perfect. He drives it daily and the street manners are great. Check out this link.

I like the idea of the attitude cam, but it is not right for my application.
1. It is header's required, and I am not getting headers (wife will let me spend 1700 for a cam install but not another 2000 on headers and installation)
2. It has a REALLY rough idle with a lot of lope, I want something milder.
3. It HAMMERS your fuel economy, something I do not want to do. Most people are losing at minimum 2mpg in the city, some lose 3mpg! Lots of guys with this cam get single digit MPG in the city... that is unacceptable to me.

You are right about the fuel economy and headers for your application are expensive. I think you would be surprised on the idle and street manners.
Alvin does all of my tuning and even with a cammed truck my wife was surprised at how well it ran and still was streetable. My fuel economy in town is around 10 and highway 16. I've lost alot in town because of the stall converter producing higher rpms.

hey mark - i will put my next 2 cents worth. my truck with the 111lsa lopes pretty cool at idle 800-900 rpm but also does have a low vacuum condition until i come up off of idle. still the lope is really cool, everyone knows i have a cam at the lights.lol but my overall mpg went from 22mpg in a 4.8L pretty stock to 18mpg overall in a cam'd 6.0L. not bad in my opinion. however back to the real question which cam? from the further research i have done it looks like that icon cam would suit you (and probably me) for what you are looking for imho. well let us know what you land on, i am really curious.

It will be a tough decision. The speed inc cam has -6 overlap and will lope and have a ton of midrange, but not be much better than stock (maybe 15ish hp) when over 6000ish rpms. The PCM4less stealth will make pretty good power throughout the range, but no huge gains anywhere, and be basically silent.
The icon cam looks good, but I may give up a little too much down low... which is big on a 5000lbs suv.
I will talk to icon again and see what is the best. The icon cam has -7 overlap, so it will lope, but not too hard.
Can anyone tell me what the IVC would be at ABDC on that Icon cam?

Man, just get a custom grind...These off the shelf deals are OK, but you have to meet several conditions 1) no headers, 2) good on springs 3) daily driver friendly etc. You'd be best served to talk to 2-3 shops that are familiar with the TBSS, that have spec'd cams in the past...they have gotten user feedback (or eye witness feedback) on how those spec's affect the conditions your concerned about.
My custom grind is NOT what you are after, but my shop knows how those spec's affected mpg, lope (stealthness), etc etc. They know what parameter (spec) changes would be necessary to achieve your goals. I'm sure other shops do also...I don't think its really that much extra (if any) $$ to go with a custom grind.
Look at it this way...if cost is equal, wouldn't you rather have something designed around your goals...something new that takes into consideration everything we have learned up until today? Most of these off the shelf deals are either years old, or were originally designed for another application, then just given a different name (like TBSS cam). Just my $0.02, but I've already been there and done that.

To ThunderRacing,
Have you done any custom grinds for a TBSS? I want something that will work well on stock manifolds, keep stock driveability (or at least the same as it drives with the 3000 stall it has now), and give a little bit of lope. I would also like it to have pretty mild lift as I do not want it to bang up the drivetrain or need new springs every 20k miles.
Any recommendations.
Also, are your cams on proprietary lobes?

headers will cost more, net less.....
anyways, I have decided to go with something in the 216/222 114+2 or the 215/228 116. Either one should do nicely in this truck... I will let you know soon how it works out.

By the way, a torquer 2 would be way too big for our heavy application. It would make great power on a dyno but get off the line like fat kid trying to run a 100 yard dash
