Default Crane Billet Lifters Preload?

What is the recommended preload for the Crane Billet Lifters. A 7.450 push rod will give me .048" preload. The next size push rod that I have is a 7.5. I found some generic Crane instructions that called for .020 to .060.

Thanks guys!

Yes. With heat expansion/deflection etc.. that should work great.

Crane only recommends .020 to .060 for their lifters. I don't know why, but that's what is on their site.

I had a set of Morels delivered that I returned. Half of the rollers rolled rough. These are not the Morels. I've been told by a good source that the Crane's are not as finicky (sp) with preload that the Morels/Lunati's are. Is .098 too much?????

According the the Crane instructions for these lifters, they recommend the following:

For this engine application [Part No. 144536-16 and 144511-16
GM – LS SERIES GEN III & GEN IV ENGINES], extensive testing has shown .060 TO .090 lifter preload, on all Crane Cams Hydraulic Roller Lifters to provide the best power and performance, as well as, minimizing valve train noise.

I'm not questioning the .090, I just wanted to post the Crane instructions as a courtesy to the OP.

Preload specification noted for future reference.....

Agree, it seems they aren't too good at including instructions with anything. Even a small note in the box with a link to the instructions would be better than nothing.
