stroker builds
when building a stroker, using the ls platform (ls1, ls2), is it required to grind the block, crank, or rods for clearance? On the original SBC usually you need to do some grinding in these places to gain clearance for the longer stroke.

used 4.125 stroke in a couple of lq9s with no problems at all. in a ls series engine they raised the cam location further up than in a sbc, so you dont worry about the top edge if the rods touching the cam.

on aluminum blocks with 2.100 rods and 4.00 and up stroke you have to notch the cylinders. The cam does not become an issue until 4.250 and bigger. The LS1 has a decent amount of room in it.

Yeah, I heard alot about this. My motor is STILL at the machine shop, but when I get it back, I need to check that since I am doing teh assembly. My combo 4.060 Wiseco x 4.00 Eagle with Eagle 6.125 rods and running FBody pan and windage tray. Was told and heard that the rod bolts can hit the windage tray, and needs like 2 or 3 washers to shim the tray.

.230 shim for ur windage tray, then u have to align ur pickup tube.use some clay and make sure its not bottomed out in ur pan,...biggest overlooked problem and causes starvation with a big pump. just cut the bracket off the tube and reweld it,keep the tube linned up perfect for the o-ring on the pump also.

Yeah, I also got that oil pickup tube girdle to help out on that end as well. I was at the machine shop this morning, getting closer. They did some more work to my heads and were gonna flow them today so they can pick out my cam. They were ordering lifters and my shaft rockers today or tomorrow, so.....
