Ive been considering regreting my choice of 454. Im want more room for growth. Like added nitrous.

Shouldve seen this coming.

What are the limits of this engine? As far as nitrous...

Im not sure where the walls are left with the 4.185 bore..

Question

I'm guessing you might not be able to do nitrous?
If that's the case, maybe you can just build up your N/A to be a little more potent than you first wanted? (bigger cam, better heads, intake?)
Good luck.

n2o is not recommended

We could do a 460 that you can run a 200 shot on. It should run mid 9's N/A 3300lb car on pump gas, but that's a long block that we build. Our head choice/cam, rockers, lifters the whole ball of wax needs to coincide and the best way is to let us do it for you. HKE has some of the fastest combo's at the strip where it matters, not on some dyno.

We can still do the long block for you on the 454 as well unless you've already purchased your heads?

I think you would be fine with up to a 250 shot (with the right internals). That is what i was told on m shorblock? There is also a guy running a 454 LSX, best of everything internals wise, and a 106mm turbo.

thats a healthy cam. IIRC the last 454 we did had a 248/254 in it with TFS 245's. He was shooting for 600 rwhp.

Damn, what do you do for a living or is your savings about in the toilet...?

At any rate, you should be running way faster than what you had been shooting for. I believe you said low 10s and 130mph? I think you will have a 9s car all day long if you get her to hook hard and go straight. My engine is a mere 404cid using a (.010+) 6.0L block with 225cc ETP heads and 239/243 cam. I have been 10.34s @ 130.18mph with a 1.48s 60'. That was with 3.89 gears, 30" tire and a crappy converter at 3200lbs. My 60' should be around 1.35s and time at that speed 10.10s I have a set of 4.33 gears and a new Coan converter which I am hoping will get me a 9.90s pass.

What I am getting at is hold on tight you will have something serious on your hands and be careful with that stick shift! She is going to be a bear to control!

All I can say is congrats and keep up the good work! You have an interesting build going on here that many are interested in because we don't all have the means...

That's very close to my setup,my cam is in the 25X/25X range though. It'll runn on the street with pump 93. I have LT rings though and wish they where different.

A smaller cam might be better for the driving.

We'll get it right.

Most important thing to do is have one cook in the kitchen HKE's 445cid that ran 9.4 on pump gas N/A (3300 lb car) is one example. We consequently took that engine and gave it a shot of steroids and pumped it up to a 457cid and a 460cid but we need to do the long block to get the results and speed and reliability is not cheap. Those long blocks are 15,995 and 16750 but you can spray a 200 shot on the 460cid
