Comp had spec'd me a 247/259 .624 on both with a 112LSA on LsR lobes when I was thinking of using the Vic Jr intake, but then they said to use a 113 with the FAST 102.

Brian at comp said to use at least 12* more of duration on the exhaust side since the Ls3's flow so good on the intake. Thats what he said so dont shoot the messenger.

Question about the carcraft article referenced.

It mentions using a 430hp LS3. But the baseline dyno pull was 480. What accounts for the additional 50 hp, headers and tune?

With reservations I am posting my setup because the cam grind is 3 years old and I think is leaving alot on the table. I bought this setup. Custom OS SD tuneed.
forged 370
diamond 11.5 to 1 domes
L92's pocket ported
gold race duals, titanium and custom light weight valves
ls3 intake with 90tb
226/230 .585/.592 116+4 XER comp cam
PS LT with 3 inch and X-pipe
T56 LS7 clutch
5.13 gears
cam pulls to 6500 but torque starts dropping at 4600rpms.
peak tq was 409ftlbs at 4400rpms and peak power is 423hp at 5900rpms

Motor has been tuned to death, but still has the gas smell at Idle. Is anybody else have the faint fuel smell all the time?

Opinions and idea's are very welcome....This is not the motor in the Denali.

it is really small cam and as you see it puts low number ,if you change the cam to something 227/239 you will see big difference.

Also why Domes pistons ??

JT = Justin Timberlake cam.

I believe it was "Small and unassuming but able to Fek anything it wants to"

It was a small BRE cam that made very strong numbers and GREAT average power. I sold it and it it's still making or will be making excellent power if everthing else is setup correctly.

I couldn't answer that question. I didn't pick the pistons. Motor was a big single turbo mill then switched to NA. The heads are not milled so maybe that was his reasoning. Dynamic Compression is 8.9:1 with this cam. I believe that was his reasoning behind it also. To get the static compression down to run 93 octane. I know this motor can make a big number it just needs the right cam to do it.

the 227/239 is not that much bigger,if you think about it.what is different is the IVO and IVC.concentrate on the right VEs for the combo, makes all the difference.IMO,the 116lsa is less then optimal for his combo.

This my old truck. The numbers are naturally going to be low with 5.13 gears and 32" tall tires on 20's. RWHP #'s don't need to be directly compared to a car with 3.73's and a 26" tire/wheel combo weighing 40 lbs. Wheels and tires together are almost 100lbs.
It has dome tops because pistons had to be purchased. They were the same price as flat tops and I wouldn't have to mill the heads or new pushrods.
The cam is small with the 116 LSA for a broad-smooth power band and smooth idle.
The new owner has a little different goals and I look forward to seeing the potential.

And I love it ..... I think this truck has an 11 second time slip in it with slicks. I just can't drive around thinking it could make 50 or more horses with just a cam change....

Anybody give me an opinion on these three grinds???? These are the three that I am looking at hard.
226/236 600/605 114+2
227/243 614/624 114
219/227 607/614 112
I have had some knowledgeable people talk too me about this, but would also like an end-user's opinion.
The 2nd cam is similar to both Lingenfelter and ESP grind's....

Well, I hope my tq.2 232/234 112lsa works with my new LS3 heads/intake combo. Because that's the cam that's going to stay in there.
