Titanium valves or noy? I was thinking of runnin titanium valves in my L92. I heard not to run them on the street cause they beat up the seats cause the valves are hard. Anybody have any experience with titanium valves and some miles on their motors who run them so I know if I will run into any problems? thanks guys.
Titanium is actually soft. I don't know exactly what material they use in the LS7, but you usually need something like copper-berrylium for the seats for two main reason: to help absorb the heat out of the valve and to be the sacrificial lamb of the two materials. It's cheaper to replace seats rather than titanium valves.
Put the money into the rest of the valvetrain, or on better heads. Unless you are gonna turn a lot of RPM, you really don't need them.

Relatively speaking of course. That's why titanium valves have hardened steel caps/tips. For example, the Del West valves in the LS7 require hardened caps, or the steel rockers wear away the valve. I have pics to show you what happens when the cap comes off.

Yeah, but do you need them? Big *** 2.300", 11/32" stem steel valves can go over 7000 in a BBC, why would you need them in an LS1? Sure, it would make it easier on the rest of the valvetrain, but it's up to the user to decide if it's really worth the $$$.

I run the stock LS7 intake ( read: GM) valves on my car and delwest aftermarket titanium exhaust valves in my LS7 heads. I had them ALL PVD coated for longevity. Richard at West Coast cylinder heads provided the valves ( $800 a set) and the PVD coating ( $560 for all 16).
LPE installed them in my reworked LS7 heads. 1,000 miles no problems. I had Richard PVD coat my Stock GM Ti intake and Ferra SS exhaust valves on my last set of heads. They still looked new after 7K miles and are for sale.
